Benson, NC: Mr. Richie Robin Byrd, age 47, of 203 Mingo Road died Sunday at his home. Funeral Services will be 11:00AM Wednesday at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Glenn McCullen. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Byrd was born March 3, 1960 in Harnett County to Claude “Junior” and Myrtle Blackmon Byrd of Benson. He was a 1978 graduate of South Johnston High School. Mr. Byrd was a brick mason and a member of the Benson Fire Department for 23 years, where he served as Chief from September 1999 thru July 2000, and held many other positions in the department. He was also a member of Benson Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are Wife, Freda Edgerton Byrd; Daughters & Sons-in-Law, Michelle & Michael Williams of Four Oaks and Kimberly & Brandon Moore of Benson; Grandsons, Austin Ray Williams and Carter Scott Moore; Brother & Sister-in-Law, Chris & Tracey Byrd of Benson; and Niece, Kirsten Byrd.
The family will receive friends 6:00PM to 9:00PM Tuesday at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson.
Mr. Vann Melvin Revels

Angier: Mr. Vann Melvin Revels, age 83, of 10405 NC Hwy 50 N. died Saturday at his residence. Funeral services will be 3:00PM Tuesday at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson. Pastor Sam Harvin and Sherry Cannady will officiate. Burial will follow in Lakeside Memorial Gardens, Angier.
Mr. Revels was born in Harnett County on May 16, 1924 to the late Vann Buren & Nancy Williams Revels. Mr. Revels was a retired farmer and building contractor. After retirement he worked for 5 years with Food Lion Industries. Mr. Revels was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he served on the building committee and in many other capacities.
Surviving: are Wife of 64 years, Frances Langdon Revels; Children & Spouses, Velator & Joel Mallett of Angier, Vandy Ray & Sandy Revels of Raleigh & Sherry & Robert Cannady of Clinton. Sisters, Emma R. Parrish of Garner and Ruth R. Stephenson of Willow Spring. Six Grandchildren, One Great Grandson.

Mrs. Mary Pollard Barnes

Coats, NC: Mrs. Mary Pollard Barnes, age 82, of Coats died Friday at Oak Hill Living Center in Angier. funeral service will be 3:00PM Sunday at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Coats. Rev. Jesse Mooney will officiate. Burial will follow in Coats City Cemetery.
Mrs. Barnes was born in Harnett County on November 7, 1924 to the late William Edward and Lenora Adams Pollard. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter S. Barnes; and brothers, Edward W. Pollard and J. Lacy Pollard. Mrs. Barnes was a nursing home employee and was a member of Coats Baptist Church.
Surviving, caregiving Nephews & Spouses, David & Betty Barnes of Angier and Donnie & Judy Pollard of Garner; all other nieces & nephews; and Sisters-in-Law, Daphene Barnes and Hazel Barnes, both of Angier.
Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Coats from 1:45PM to 2:45PM prior to the service and other times at the home of David & Betty Barnes, 1450 Carson Gregory Road, Angier, NC.
Mrs. Diane Wilkins Johnson

Dunn: Diane Wilkins Johnson, age 63, of 3397 301 Hwy North died Tuesday at Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be 11:00AM Friday at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson. Rev. Donald Pope will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Johnston County on September 26, 1944 to the late Wade and Leone Salmon Wilkins. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Arlene Moody and Juanita Wilkins. Mrs. Johnson was a co-owner and administrator for Johnson Better Care. She attended Capital City Church of God.
Surviving: are husband, W. Jerry Johnson; Children, Jerri Cohen of Miami, FL, and W. Jason Johnson and wife, Jillian, of Dublin, Ireland; Grandchildren, Holly Johnson and Riley Johnson; Sisters, Marlene Rose of Raleigh, Sue McCafferty of Raleigh and Judy Brewer of Raleigh; Brothers, Cecil Wilkins of Cary and Brooks Wilkins of Raleigh; and Sister-in-Law, Janie Mack Johnson of Dunn.
The family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 7:00 to 9:00 PM Thursday.
Mr. Luther Davis “L.D.” Colville, Jr.

Erwin: Luther Davis “L.D.” Colville, Jr., 61 of 180 Frank Colville Lane died while hunting Thursday. He was the son of Evelyn Fann Colville and the late Luther Davis Colville, Sr. He was a member of Erwin Chapel PFWB Church, the National Rifle Association (NRA) and several hunting
clubs. Mr. Colville was retired form Bell South and an employee of the City of Dunn.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday at Erwin Chapel PFWB Church, Rev. Virgil Murphy will officiate. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Surviving: In addition to his mother; Wife, Barbara Martin Colville; Sons and Daughters-in-law, Billy & Samantha Colville of Erwin, Neil & Tara Colville of Coats, Sister, Judy Barcenas of Erwin, Former Wife, Cathey Ralph of Halifax, Grandchildren, Caitlin Colville, Stephen Colville, Riley Colville and Marley Colville, Nieces, Lisa Collins and Cristi Hernandez.

Mrs. Brookie Langdon Tripp

Dunn, NC: Mrs. Brookie Langdon Tripp, age 86, of 5630 Old Fairground Rd died Thursday October 11, 2007 at Rex Healthcare. Funeral Services will be 3:00PM Sunday October 14th, 2007 at Hodges Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church in Benson. Officiating will be the Revs. Condary Ellis, Curtis Tatum, and Kelvin Blackmon. Burial will follow in Devotional Gardens.
Mrs. Tripp was born November 16, 1920 in Harnett County to the late Dester A. and Lector M. Langdon. She retired from Belk Department Store. Mrs. Tripp was a member of Hodges Chapel PFWB Church. A homemaker, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, J. Elbert Tripp. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Gardner Foushee and three brothers Drexel, Danville and DeVaul Langdon.
Surviving are Daughters, Bonnie T. Foushee of Rougemont, NC, Juanita T. Upchurch and husband, James, of Angier, NC, and Pam Tripp and Steve Genetti of Asheville, NC; Sisters, Berline Ennis of Coats, Brenda Langdon of Sanford; Brothers, Don Langdon of Angier, Daywood Langdon of Angier; Five Grandchildren; Nine Great Grandchildren; Five Step Grandchildren; and Eight Step Great Grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 5:00PM to 7:00PM Saturday at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson.
Mrs. Tripp will always be remembered for her love and commitment to God, her family, and friends. She will be greatly missed for her generosity and loving concern for others.

Benson, NC: Mr. Early Dickens, Jr. age 89 of 333 Westeria Lane, Benson died Thursday at Liberty Common Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Benson. funeral service will be Saturday 11:00AM in the chapel of Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson. Rev. Scott Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow in Devotional Gardens in Dunn.
Mr. Dickens was born in Wake County on May 29, 1918 to the late Early William & Edith Holland Dickens. Mr. Dickens was a retired farmer, US Army Veteran and served in World War II. Mr. Dickens was a member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Leah Mae Dickens.
Surviving are: Daughters & Sons-in-law: Clara Mae & Sherrill Bowden of Angier, Edith & Jeffrey Penny of Benson and Betty Wagstaff of Benson. Son & Daughter-in-law: Clyde & Sharon Dickens of Four Oaks. Brother, Earnest Dickens of Fuquay Varina. Grandchildren & Spouses, David & Andrea Penny, Angela Glover, Susan Penny, Lisa Dickens & Shana D. & Daniel Harrison. Great Grandchildren, Brittany Glover and William Glover. Special Niece: Margie Wester.

Mrs. Ethel Mae Johnson West

Benson, NC: Mrs. Ethel Mae Johnson West, born May 30, 1924, was a long time residence of Benson, NC and a recent resident of Dunn, NC. She died Monday, October 8, 2007.
Ethel is survived by son, Roger West and wife, Norma, of Jacksonville Beach, FL.; son, Terry West and wife, Donna, of Forest City, NC; daughter, Brenda Beckerdite and husband, Fred, of Woodworth, LA.; granddaughters, Jacquelyn Buckland and husband, Kenny, of Jacksonville, FL and Jenna West of Forest City, NC; grandsons, Dylan West of Forest City, NC and Rodd Beckerdite of Randleman, NC; great grandsons, Seth Schmidt and Brandon Buckland; brothers, Ira Johnson and wife, Flora, of Syracuse, NY, Luther Johnson and wife, Mavis of Southport, FL, Louis Johnson and wife, Jean, of Venice, FL and James Johnson of Dunn, NC; Sisters, Myrtle Moore and husband, Richard of Durham, NC, Eloise Adams and husband, Charles, of Clayton, NC, Barbara Norris and husband, Loyied, of Raleigh, NC, and Judy Haney and husband, James, of Dunn, NC; and sister-in-law, Lou Johnson of Dunn, NC. Extended family includes 26 nieces and nephews.
Ethel was predeceased by a daughter, Connie West; parents Cornelius Johnson and Alma Bryant Johnson and a brother, Wiley Johnson.
Ethel was a dedicated member of Benson Pentecostal Holiness Church for many years. She was also active in a number of civic and community activities. She participated in Senior Games many years, winning numerous medals. She served on the advisory board for Parks and Recreation in Benson and the advisory board for the Benson Senior Center. She also faithfully worked as a poll worker during all of the elections. She was once Woman of the Year in her church.
Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Wednesday.
Funeral services will be 2:00PM Thursday at Benson Pentecostal Holiness Church. Officiating will be Rev. Mark Fields, Rev. Frank Gentry, and Rev. Jimmy Barnhill. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to the building fund of the Benson Pentecostal Holiness Church, 407 E. Church Street, Benson, NC 27504.
Mr. Jerry Malah McLamb

Benson, NC: Mr. Jerry Malah McLamb, age 58, of 717 Drag Strip Rd died Saturday at Betsy Johnson Hospital in Dunn. Funeral Services will be 3:00PM Tuesday at the Beulah Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. C.H. Lee and Joseph Daniel Lee. Burial will follow in Devotional Gardens in Dunn.
Mr. McLamb was born November 23, 1948, in Harnett County to Ada Moore McLamb of Benson and the late Malah McLamb. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert H. McLamb. Mr. Jerry McLamb was a partner with Carlie C’s IGA in Erwin and was a member of Beulah Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his mother are, Wife, Sharon Norris McLamb of Benson; Daughters and Sons-In-Law, Lynn and Terry Faircloth of Dunn, Brandi and Nicholas Dennis of Fuquay-Varina; Sons & Daughters-in-Law, Gre and Elizabeth Newton of Raleigh, Braston and Heather Newton of Benson; Brother, Carlie C. McLamb of Dunn; Sisters, Ruthlene Lee of Four Oaks, Ettie Mae Blackman of Newton Grove; Four Grandchildren, Jeremy Faircloth, Danielle Faircloth, Jarah Newton and Alyssa Newton.
