Ann E. McHale Klase
Ann Elizabeth McHale Klase, 84, passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord on August 6, 2007. Ann was born November 13, 1922 at Fountain Springs Hospital, Fountain Springs, PA, the daughter of John McHale and E. Pauline Bickel McHale and sister of Francis McHale. As a child growing up in Ashland, PA, Ann learned to play the piano and organ. She traveled with her parents and sister to tent revivals throughout Pennsylvania and Maryland and developed a love for the songs of the Pentecostal movement. When she was a teenager, Ann became the pianist at Calvary Tabernacle, Ashland, PA, and for the next 40+ years she served as pianist or organist at several churches, including Gospel Tabernacle in Shamokin, PA and Christ Evangelical Congregational Church in Lavelle, PA. She loved the Lord.
Following graduation from Ashland High School in 1939, she worked as a bookkeeper for a local business, Wallauer’s, until she married Roy A Klase, a dairy farmer, of Dutchtown, a rural community a few miles outside Ashland. Ann and Roy were married January 20, 1945 in Pitman, PA and resided at the Klase farm. Ann was a devoted and loving mother of two sons and two daughters as well as a true farmer’s wife. In the springtime she would plant a huge vegetable garden and enjoyed reaping the fruits of her labors. When she started harvesting tomatoes each summer it was certain that she would be canning anything that could be made with them, from ketchup to chili sauce. She was always proud of her garden and kept one until she was up in years.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Roy in 2000, and oldest daughter, Patricia Klase Walker in 1999. She is survived by her sons, Robert of Long Beach, CA and Donald, his wife, Pam and their sons, Steven and Michael of Battle Ground, WA and her daughter, Joan Klase Schertz, her husband Arthur of Raleigh, NC and their children, Stephanie Bodger and family of Lynnwood, WA, Gary Schertz and family of Canyon Country, CA and Wesley Schertz and family of Sherman Oaks, CA and Patricia’s sons, David Walker and family of Long Beach, CA and Michael Walker and family of Shalimar, FL.

Following the service, internment will be at Christ Church cemetery, Fountain Springs, PA. A meal will be served by the church following internment and the family will be present to greet friends and loved ones.
