Mrs. Lumisher Goodwin Murdaugh

Funeral services for Mrs. Lumisher Goodwin Murdaugh, 87, of 661 Clear Pond Road, Ehrhardt, will be held at 3:30 p.m. October 27, 2007, in the McCune Branch Baptist Church in Lodge. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Viewing will be held one hour prior to the services on Saturday.

Mrs. Murdaugh died October 21, in Bamberg.

She was born June 14, 1920, in Colleton County, to the late Hampton Goodwin and the late Beulah Goodwin. She was married to the late Matthew Murdaugh.

Survivors include one son, Cleveland Murdaugh.

Cave Funeral Services Inc. of Ehrhardt is in charge of arrangements.

Henry O'Neil Curry Jr.

Henry O'Neil Curry Jr., 59, of Dallas, passed away Monday, October 22, 2007, in Dallas.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Curry was born December 17, 1947, in Orangeburg, to Henry O'Neil and Inez (Smith) Curry Sr. Mr. Curry was an entertainment club manager. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Beverly Curry Brown.

He is survived by his sister, Sheradine Abraham and her husband, Robert of Plano, Texas; stepmother, Amelia Z. Curry who has been the children's mother since a very young age of Orangeburg; sister, Lynneze Thompson of Orangeburg; nephews, Donte Abraham, Kenneth Brown and Roger Brown Jr.; niece, Meeghan Abraham and numerous other loving relatives and friends.

Marvin Eugene Abraham

Marvin Eugene Abraham, 67, of 4120 1st St., SE, Washington, D.C., died Friday, October 20, 2007, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, October 27, in the J.B. Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel in Landover, Md., with the Rev. Michael Malloy officiating. Burial will follow in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Suitland, Md.

Mr. Abraham was born in Orangeburg, a son of the late Leroy Abraham and Evangeline Abraham. He was married to Albertha Abraham.

Survivors include three daughters, Cynthia Dawkins, Angel Abraham and Darlene Morehead; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was also the brother of Betty Walker, Lillie Dawkins, the late Leatha Fuller, Robert Abraham and Leroy Abraham.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, at J.B. Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. Thelma Bruce Burrell

Mrs. Thelma Bruce Burrell, 84, 3727 Rowesville Road, Rowesville, died Thursday, October 25, 2007, at her residence following an extended illness.

Funeral plans will be announced by Glover's Funeral Home.

Friends may call at the residence and at the funeral home.

Nathaniel Mack Jr.

Nathaniel Mack Jr., 59, of 990 River St., died Tuesday, October 23, 2007, at his residence following an extended illness.

Funeral plans will be announced by Bethea's Funeral Home.

Friends may call at the residence and at the funeral home.

Ruth Marion Engeman Alt

Ruth Marion Engeman Alt of 5874 North Road, died Tuesday, October 23, 2007, at her residence.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Thompson Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Mrs. Alt was born November 8, 1920, in Newark, N.J. She was the daughter of the late Ferdinand Engeman and late Caroline Muellet Engeman. She was a member of Orangeburg Lutheran Church and was retired from NASA Metals and AT&T.;

Survivors include her husband, Adam Alt of Orangeburg; eight children, Carol Schierbaum, Bonnie Stryker, Dale Bellai, Robert Alt, all of New Jersey, Gail Melvin of Montano, Janice Alt of New Jersey, Jeanne Shultz and Jeffrey Alt, both of Florida; 17 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Engeman of Atlanta.

The family requests memorials be made to Orangeburg Lutheran Church, 610 Ellis Ave., Orangeburg, SC 29115.

Millie Sue Lewis Major

Millie "Sue" Lewis Major, 57, of 165 Legare Road, St. George, died Monday, October 22, 2007, at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 26, at the Lovely Hill Baptist Association Convention Center in St. George, with the Rev. Joseph Sanders officiating.

Millie was born June 7, 1950, the daughter of Rosa Mae Syphrett Lewis and the late Freddie Eugene Lewis. She was educated in the public schools of Dorchester County. At an early age she joined the Jericho Baptist Church in Reevesville and later she accepted Christ in her life and joined Bethel No. 1 Holiness Church. Millie was a member of the Bethel No. 1 General Choir. She was joined in holy matrimony on April 7, 1972, to Claude Major Jr. This union was blessed with three wonderful children, Melissa, Kelvin and Sabrina.

She leaves to cherish fond memories: her loving husband, Claud Major of St. George; two daughters, Melissa and Sabrina Major of St. George; a son, Kelvin L. Major of Columbia; a grandson, Nicholas A. Washington of St. George; six sisters, Freddie Made Garvin of Newark, N.J., Margie Lewis of St. George, Rosetta (Joseph) Sanders of Reevesville, Carolyn Lewis of Parma Heights, Ohio, Gloria (Phillip) Elmore and Brenda Lewis of Orangeburg; four brothers, Darrell (Paula) Lewis and David (Marsha) Lewis, both of Orangeburg, Jimmy Lewis of Trenton, N.J., and Terry Lewis of Pelham, Ga.; three aunts, Rola Mae Green and Ernestine Lewis of Reevesville, and Helen Lewis of Ruffin; two uncles, J.C. Syphrett of St. George and Adell Lewis of Reevesville; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The Ling Funeral Home of St. George will handle funeral services. Public viewing will be from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. and then a family time will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.

Henry Cheeseboro Jr.

Henry Cheeseboro Jr., of Bronx, N.Y., died Sunday, October 21, 2007.

Funeral services will be announced by Carson's Funeral Home of St. Matthews.

Friends may call at the residence of his mother-in-law, Mrs. Eula Mae Floyd, Calhoun Road, St. Matthews and at the funeral home.

Mrs. Maude Banks Griffith

Mrs. Maude Banks Griffith, 87, of Neeses, died Saturday, October 20, 2007.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 23, in the Neeses Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Orangeburg.

The casket will be placed in the church at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Active pallbearers will be grandsons.

Mrs. Griffith was born in Orangeburg County, a daughter of the late Raymond Jacob and Sallie Morgan Banks. She was a retired LPN from the Regional Medical Center and was a member of Neeses Baptist Church. She was married to the late Bryan R. Griffith.

Survivors include one daughter, Margaret and her husband, Frank Geiger of Moncks Corner; three sons, Richard and wife, Doris Griffith of Harleyville, Wayne and his wife, Ann Griffith and Harry and his wife, Nellie Griffith, all of Neeses; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home of North and other times at the home, 4322 Ninety-Six Road in Neeses.

Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Neeses Baptist Church.

Rudolph David Freeman

Rudolph David Freeman, 33, of 321 Fair Street, Elloree, died Saturday, October 20, 2007, at his residence after an extended illness.

Memorial services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, in the First Baptist Church of Elloree, with the Rev. C. Clark McCrary III officiating. Burial will be in the Santee Baptist Cemetery, Highway No. 6 in Elloree.

Mr. Freeman was born in Johnson City, Tenn., July 7, 1972, a son of Patricia Brunk Freeman Runions and Rudolph Freeman. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elloree and was a retired tree surgeon.

Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Stinager Freeman of Cincinnati, Ohio; son, Dalton Lee Freeman and a daughter, Madison Gail Freeman, both of Elloree; mother, Patricia Freeman Runions and stepfather, Ralph Runions, both of Elloree; three sisters, Tammy Beach Sainz of Elloree, Cindy Carr of Fort Houston, Texas and Sheena Danielle Freeman of Elloree.

Visitation will be held at the home of Tammy Beach Sainz, 369 Hampton Street, Elloree on Monday, October 22, from 6 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Freeman Children, c/o Tammy Beach Sainz, P.O. Box 372, Elloree, SC 29047.

Fogle-Hungerpiller Funeral Home of Elloree is in charge of arrangements.
