Louise S. Thompson

Louise S. Thompson, 77, of 681 Quaker Road, St. George, died Thursday, September 20, 2007, at her residence following a prolonged illness.

Funeral plans will be announced by Stevens Funeral Home of St. George.

Friends may call at her residence or the funeral home.

Samuel T. Gaines

Funeral services for Samuel T. Gaines, 74, of 366 Sydney Circle, Neeses, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, September 23, 2007, at Turkey Branch Missionary Baptist Church in Neeses. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The casket will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.

Mr. Gaines died Monday, September 17, at his residence.

Viewing will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday at W. B. Crumel Funeral Home of North.

Friends may call at the residence and at the funeral home.

Lisbon Thomas

Mr. Lisbon Thomas, 68, of 20904 Solomon Blatt Ave., Blackville, died Friday, September 14, 2007, at the Barnwell County Hospital.

Funeral plans will be announced by Green's Funeral Home of Blackville.

Friends may call at the residence and at the funeral home.

Arrangements are entrusted to Green's Funeral Home in Blackville.

Jack Wallace Steele Jr.

Funeral services for Jack Wallace Steele Jr., will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, September 16, 2007, at Highland Baptist Church in Orangeburg, with burial in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Orangeburg.

Memorials may be made to Highland Baptist Church, P.O. Box 2529, Orangeburg, SC 29116.

Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Orangeburg is in charge of arrangements.

Jettie Loadholt

Funeral services for Jettie Loadholt, 96, of the Bamberg County Nursing Center, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2007 in the Hickory Hill United Methodist Church in Smoaks. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Loadholt died Saturday, October 27, in the Bamberg County Nursing Center.

She was born April 1, 1911, in Bamberg County, to the late Monnie and Rebecca Bryant Behling. After attending the public school of Bamberg County, she married the late Josh Loadholt. Together they relocated to New York City. While there, she worshiped and attended church in Brooklyn, under the leadership of the Rev. Jimmy Behling. Upon her retirement, Jettie relocated back to Bamberg and rededicated herself with the family church, Hickory Hill United Methodist Church. Her loving son, William James Carter preceded her in death.

Survivors include five nieces, Blanch (Charles) Ayers, Azalee (Joe) Varn and Lucinda Harley, all of Bamberg, Ruth Lawson and Ann (Charles) McMillan of New York; three nephews, Larry (Glenda) Behling of Bamberg, James (Beverly) Behling of Charlotte, N.C. and William Henry Warren of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one sister-in-law, Henrietta Behling of Bamberg.

The Carroll Mortuary of Bamberg will be in charge of the services.

The family will be greeting friends in the fellowship hall of the church after the burial.

Friends may also call at the home of Charles and Blanch Ayers, 215 Capernaum Road, Bamberg.

Mrs. Eugenia M. Ott

Funeral services for Mrs. Eugenia M. Ott, 95, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at the Ott Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bobby Ethridge officiating. Burial will be in the Thompson Cemetery near Branchville.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Myers, Gerald Myers, Boley Wimberly, Paul Wimberly, Tommy Walters and Joey Wimberly.

Mrs. Ott died Sunday, October 28.

She was born in Branchville, a daughter of the late Claude P. Myers and Lessie Thompson Myers. She was the widow of the late Charles M. Ott Jr. She was a member of the Branchville United Methodist Church and a lifelong resident of the community.

Survivors include one son, Charles M. Ott III of Branchville; two granddaughters, Desiree Connelly and Sheree Misik, both of Branchville; one great-grandson, Daniel Walling; one sister, Lula Alice "Boot" Walters of Charleston; one brother-in-law, Joseph W. Wimberly; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Baldwin; a number of nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the residence of Charles M. Ott Jr., 4973 Cattle Creek Road.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Alvin Void

Funeral services for Alvin Void, 27, of 407 Laval Road, Santee, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2007, in the Shepherd Outreach Ministry, with Pastor Winnifa B. Clark officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Void died October 18, at his residence.

Alvin "Randy" Void was born August 15, 1980, in Orangeburg to Ms. Elizabeth Void and Mr. Alex Utsey Jr. He joined Rock Hill AME Church at an early age. He attended the Orangeburg County Schools.

Survivors include his wife, Tiffany Rolonda Void of Santee; daughter, Brianna Void of Vance; mother, Elizabeth Void of Santee; father, Alex Utsey Jr. of Holly Hill; father and mother-in-law, Jimmy (Darlene) Williams; four brothers, Barry Clark of Indiana, Alexander Void of Orangeburg, Jerome Glover of Santee and Demetrius Goodwin of Holly Hill; three sisters, Jeanette (Andre) Bradley of Santee, Shanisha Jenkins of Vance, and Tracy Rivera of Columbia; sister-in-law, Michelle Fuller; brother-in-law, Derrick Fuller, aunts, uncles, and a host of cousins and friends.

Eutawville Community Funeral Home of Eutawville is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Zelma Elizabeth Wolfe

Mrs. Zelma Elizabeth Wolfe, 97, of 251 Bridge St., Branchville, died Tuesday, October 23, 2007, at her residence.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, October 26, at Canaan Baptist Church in the Canaan Community, Cope, with the Rev. Charles Bradley and the Rev. Alan Woodward officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery in Cope.

The casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service.

Pallbearers will be James Hayden Jr., Johnny Wolfe, John Roger Wolfe, Robbie Wolfe, Mike Martin, Tony Martin, Tommy Wolfe, Earl Smoak, Johnny Chavis, Doyle Smoak and Jack Wolfe Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Wolfe was born April 22, 1910, in Orangeburg County, a daughter of the late Malachi Smoak and the late Susan Antley Smoak. She was the oldest member of Canaan Baptist Church. She was retired from Smoaks Manufacturing and was a former employee of The Churn in Branchville. She was the widow of Marion Wolfe and was predeceased by three sons, George Wolfe, Tom Wolfe and Roger Wolfe; three granddaughters, Ann Wilson, Cynthia Bailey and Tina Connor, and by a great-grandson, Craig Martin.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law: Martha Martin of St. George, Gloria and Bill Porterfield, and Pretto and Wayne Hayden, all of Branchville; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Willard Wolfe of the home, Jack Wolfe, and Robert and Evelyn Wolfe, all of Branchville; 25 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the residence, 251 Bridge St., Branchville, at Thompson Funeral Home in Orangeburg. Visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Palmetto Health Hospice, P.O. Box 1123, Bamberg, S.C. 29003-1123 or to the Canaan Cemetery Fund, C/O Thomas Brickle, 4550 Cannon Bridge Road, Cope, SC 29038.

Adam Franklin Shuler

Adam Franklin Shuler, 71, of 112 Arlington Ave., Jersey City, N.J., died Monday, October 22, 2007, at the Hackensack University Medical Center, Hackensack, N.J.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 27, at Owens Funeral Home, 1707 Reeves Branch Road, Branchville, with the Rev. Elgie Lee Rump officiating. Burial will be in the Greywood Cemetery in Branchville.

Mr. Shuler was born January 20, 1936, a son of the late Adam Shuler and Catherine Keller. He received his secondary education from the Branchville public school system.

He leaves to cherish precious memories, two daughters, Patricia Shuler-Strange of Branchville and Lisa Kelley of Columbia; three sons, Adam Shuler Jr. of Newark, N.J., Eric and Gregory Ayer, both of Columbia; three sisters, Clara Smith of Adam Town, Pa., Lois Summers of Miami, Fla., and Mary Hammond of Branchville; one grandson, Kendell Strange of Branchville.

The family will receive friends at Owens Funeral Home, 1707 Reeves Branch Road, Branchville, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, October 27.

Friends may call at the residence of Mary Hammond, 230 Evans St., Branchville.

Patricia R. Porter Hutto

Funeral services for Patricia Reynolds Porter "Pat" Hutto, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 27, 2007, in the St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call at the residence, 1560 Lee Boulevard, Orangeburg.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 1356 Amelia St., Orangeburg, SC 29115.

Dukes-Harley Funeral Home of Orangeburg is in charge of arrangements.
