Myra R. Knauer, age 83, died on Tuesday, November 11, 2003, in San Antonio, Texas. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, she graduated from Guilford College in Raleigh, North Carolina with a Bachelor of Science Degree. She moved to San Diego, California in 1942, where she resided until shortly before her death. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert William Knauer. She is survived by: her daughter, Jane Knauer Sherer; grandchildren, Jonathan Robert Forbes, Bryan Michael Forbes, Nathaniel Tyler Forbes and Jared Luke Sherer; and great grandchild, Payton Tyler Forbes.

Irma (Green) Ellison

Irma (Green) Ellison passed away Thursday, November 27, 2003.
Irma was the supervisor of Lenny’s Fashions for many years. In her retirement years she traveled the world over with her husband, Bob Ellison, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her son, Carter Green.
She is survived by her daughters, Irva and Don Scaramozi, Sherilyn Muncaster, Larraine and Chester Pape; 8 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Irva Franger and Clara Goodrich.

Our beloved father and grandfather, Oscar T. Hernandez, left us to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at the age of 83. He was born in Eagle Pass, Texas on May 2, 1920 to Ramon S. and Enriqueta Hernandez.
He was a veteran of the Army Air Corp during World War II and served as a Captain.
He resided in San Antonio since 1985 and previously resided in Nueva Rosita, Coahuila where he was an Accounting Manager for Industrial Minera ASARCO, S.A. (previously American Smelting and Refining Co.) for 25 years.
Survivors: daughter, Sylvia R. Guerra and husband, Ramon A, her children, Ramon A, Ricardo A, and Rosa Alisa; daughter, Sonya R. Acosta and husband, Francisco A, her children, Francisco A, Fernando A, and Miguel A, all from San Antonio, TX; daughter, Sandra R. Cardenas and husband, Miguel and her daughter, Regina from Saltillo, Coahuila; son, Oscar T. Hernandez and wife, Daphne from Phoenix, AZ; his sister, Maria del Carmen Hernandez from Eagle Pass, TX.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the doctors, interns, residents, and nurses from the Audie Murphy VA Hospital and the Frank Tejeda Outpatient Clinic. Special thanks to Dr. Moises Gonzalez and his staff for the many years of prior care and to ALL his family, friends and caregivers.

Vincent Paul Sekula

Vincent Paul Sekula, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and loyal friend to many, born June 27, 1921 passed from this world on Tuesday, December 2, 2003.
Vincent was a barber on the Southeast side of San Antonio for over 50 years.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and during that time was honored to be selected to cut President Harry Truman’s hair twice in addition to numerous generals such as General George Patton at the Potsdam Conference.
Vincent especially loved living in the Cestohowa and Kosciusko area and served as a Eucharistic Minister at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Wesley P. MacLeod; parents, Ben and Regina Sekula; brother, Leonard Sekula. He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Theresa Sekula; daughters, Cookie MacLeod and Ron, Patsy Santos and Robert, Sherry Wilkerson and David, Toni Lewis and Greg; son, Bernie Sekula and Wendy. He was Popo and Grandpa to Brandon and Christian Sekula, William and Katherine Wilkerson and Alexandra and Avery Lewis. He is also survived by sister, Eleanor Dzuik and brothers, Henry, Joe, and Archie Sekula; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Special thanks to Dr. Stephen Cohen and Dr. Thomas Nau and their superb staff and to the compassionate nurses in One North at the Northeast Baptist Hospital.

Pete H. Gutierrez, age 73, of San Antonio, died Sunday, November 30, 2003.
Pete was a deacon at El Central Baptist Church for 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and recently, his brother-in-law, David Castillo. Survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Elvira G. Gutierrez; sons; Raul Velasco, Pete G. Gutierrez and Diane, and Sergio Moriada and Lodie; daughters, Rebecca Martinez and George, Connie G. Molano, all of San Antonio, TX, Sylvia G. Rodriguez and Mauro and Joann G. Joan E. Coleman

Joan E. Coleman, age 78, of San Antonio, Texas died Friday, November 28, 2003.
Joan was a World War II Veteran in the Coast Guard and a Post World War II Veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Joan enjoyed golf and was a member of San Antonio Ladies Golf Association and Lackland Ladies Golf Association. She was a member of The International Cat Association (TICA) and founding member of Mission City Cat Club. Joan was also an avid Abyssinian Cat Breeder and Fancier. She was a most avid and loyal Spurs Basketball Fan.
She is survived by her husband, Roy C. Coleman; daughter, Vicki Jo Harrison and husband, John P. all of San Antonio; son, Alan R. Coleman of St. Louis, MO.; 2 sisters, Olive Nelson and husband, Robert of Sand Point, ID. and Ruby Mayo of Golden, CO.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Keith Alan Dickerson of San Antonio, TX, age 49 passed away Friday, November 28, 2003. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Robin Dickerson and his mother, Dorothy Dickerson. Keith is survived by his wife, Darlene V. Virginia Frances Henderson Selman passed away on December 9, 2003.
She was born August 25, 1919 in Waco, Texas.
She graduated from Waco High School in 1937 and worked for Service Mutual Insurance Co. of Waco and later for USAA in San Antonio. She was an active member for over 55 years of Woodlawn Christian Church, serving her church in many offices and with great dedication.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Venice Roland Henderson and Adah B. Henderson and brother, Venice Roland Henderson, Jr.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Ervin F. Selman; son, Don Selman; granddaughter, Elizabeth Selman; aunt, Rachel DeZavala; nieces, Kathryn Malone and Miriam Ely; and cousin, Virginia Quinn.

Margaret Ann Hudson

Margaret Ann Hudson, age 87, of San Antonio, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2003.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Joseph Goodwin as well as her second husband, William Dale Hudson; and her parents, John and Margarite Stinson Hunt.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Hudson; sons, James Goodwin and wife Gail of Kansas City, MO, and John Goodwin and wife Valerie of Ft. Wayne, IN; 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Raul Alvarez Villarreal

Raul Villarreal, born January 31, 1921, died after a long illness on December 5, 2003 at the age of 82.
Mr. Villarreal was predeceased by his father and mother, Francisco Villarreal and Alejandra; his brothers, Ramiro Villarreal and Francisco Valentin, and his infant son, Joseph R. Villarreal.
Mr. Villarreal was born and raised in Brownsville. He joined the Army Air Corps six days after the attack on Pearl Harbor and served as a Sergeant in the China-Burma-India Theater. His GI benefits enabled him to attend law school at St. Mary’s and the South Texas College of Law and he became a licensed attorney in 1951.
During his 50 years as an attorney, Raul was a general practitioner and handled criminal as well as civil matters. He was one of the first Hispanic attorneys to argue before the United States Supreme Court, successfully getting a murder conviction and death sentence overturned in the precedent setting case of Alvaro Alcorta vs. State of Texas. During his career, Mr. Villarreal served as legal counsel for the American GI Forum, a Hispanic civil rights group and also helped to establish the predecessor organization to the Mexican American Bar Association.
Mr. Villarreal will be remembered for his kindness, compassion, wisdom, wit, tenacity and most of all, his intellect.
He is survived by his wife, Janie F. Villarreal, his daughters, Diane Villarreal, Crystal and husband, Martin Trevino, Mary Alice and husband, David Przybylski, and Alejandra I. Villarreal and husband, Manuel Tovar, Carmen Fritz of Round Rock; step-daughters, Alma Alcocer and Mary Frances Campa; step-son, Pete Campa III and wife, Maria; numerous grandchildren, one great grandson and many nieces and nephews and other relatives.
The family would like to thank the many doctors and nursing staff who cared for him during his long illness, particularly, the wonderful staff at Specialty Hospital of San Antonio (formerly IHS) for their kindness, compassion and excellent care.
