LAGUNA PARK – Funeral services for Julia Frances Wood, 81 of Laguna Park, were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001 in the Our Lady of the Lake Episcopal Church in Laguna Park with Father Steve Hart officiating.

Born on Nov. 16, 1919 in Hearne, the daughter of W.D. and Fanny Wilkerson Blackstone, she passed away Feb. 17, 2001 at the Goodall-Witcher Hospital in Clifton.

She is survived by her husband John of Laguna Park; son and his wife Chris and Betty Wood of Cedar Creek; and five grandchildren Amber, Devin, Alyssa, Cara and Collin.

Interment followed in the Myrtle cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary in Ennis.

Col. Doyle Truitt Davis
1917 – Feb. 12, 2001

BRISTOL – Military memorial services for Col. Doyle Truitt Davis were held in San Diego in the El Camino Memorial Park.

Born in 1917 in Bristol, the son of Andrew J. and Tina Truitt Davis, he passed away Feb. 12, 2001 in San Diego, Calif.

He is survived by his wife Nell Roberts Davis formerly of Corsicana; two daughters Drs. Linda Caren and Marcia Johnston; five grandchildren and sister Drewise Davis of Dallas.

Mary B. Maliska Divin
Aug. 3, 1907 – Feb. 16, 2001

ENNIS – Mass of Christian Burial services for Mary B. Maliska Divin, 93 of Ennis, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001 in St. Johns Catholic Church with Rev. Fred Caldwell celebrant.

Born on Aug. 3, 1907 in Ennis, the daughter of John and Francis Valek Miklis, she passed away Feb. 16, 2001 at the IOOF Nursing Home in Ennis.

Preceded in death by her husband Louis Divin, and three brothers Anton, Thomas and Frank Miklis; she is survived by her son and his wife Louis H. and Elsie Maliska of Ennis; daughter and husband Marie and Wayland Dewbre of Ennis; two brothers Joe Miklis and Johnny Miklis both of Kaufman; five sisters Francis Havlik, Agnes Trojacek, Millie Slovacek, Louise Marek and Hattie DeFleming all of Kaufman; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Kevin Dewbre, John Smith, Matthew Dewbre, Chris Tibbs, Monte Maliska and Jay Maliska.

Interment followed in the St. Josephs cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary in Ennis.

Albert Andrew Garza Jr.
March 1, 1946 – Feb. 20, 2001

WACO – Graveside services for Albert Andrew Garza Jr., 54 of Waco, were held at 12 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, 2001 in the St. Joseph cemetery with Rev. Victor Ramirez and Rev. Julio Duenas.

Born on March 1, 1946 in Ennis, the son of Alberto and Pauline Andrew Garza, he passed away Feb. 20, 2001 at Providence Health Center in Waco.

Preceded in death by his parents, sister Rosa Zapata and brothers Joe Garza, John Garza and Rudy Garza; he is survived by his wife Benita P. Garza of Waco; daughters Sarah Garza of Fedrick, Okla. and Mary Helen Garza of Fedrick; sisters Margaret Diaz of Dallas, Gloria Diaz of Ferris and Mary Frances Garza of Dallas; brothers Jessie Garza of Fedrick, Okla. and Louis Garza of Corsicana; half brother Jessie Garza of Waco; step-daughters Becky Lopez of Waco, Melinda Ramos of Waco and Paula Arevalo of San Antonio.

Pallbearers were Alvin Molina, Johnny Joe Molina, Urban Molina, Albert Molina, Rudy Molina and Larry Diaz.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Green Funeral Home in Ferris.

Robbie R. Green
Nov. 22, 1977 – Feb. 19, 2001

BARDWELL – Funeral services for Robbie R. Green, 23 of Bardwell, were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001 in the Keever Chapel with Charles Hodge officiating.

Born on Nov. 22, 1977 in Atlantic, Iowa, the son of Michael D. and Carma L. Harris Green, he passed away Feb. 19, 2001 at his home.

Preceded in death by his father in 1985; he is survived by his mother and her husband Carma and Jim Sullivan of Bardwell; two brothers Richard and wife Heather Green and Ryan Green all of Bardwell; sister Kristin Green of Dallas; grandparents Lynn and Annie Harris of Ennis and Roberta Green of Macedonia, Iowa; and nephews Michael and Scott Green.

Pallbearers were Russell W. Trojacek, Zack Brittain, Jimmy Winfrey, Buddy Lee Hill, Jason Alsup, Chris Ludwig and D.R. Harris.

Interment followed in the Elm Branch cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary in Ennis.

Cesaria Gutierrez
Aug. 27, 1903 – Feb. 15, 2001

ENNIS – Mass of Christian Burial services for Cesaria Gutierrez, 97 of Ennis, were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 19, 2001 in St. Johns Catholic Church with Rev. Fred Caldwell celebrant.

Born on Aug. 27, 1903 in Delores Hidalgo, Guana Juato, Mexico, the daughter of Eucevio and Cevriana Gutierrez, she passed away Feb. 15, 2001 at her home.

Preceded in death by her husband Pedro Avila; she is survived by her son Alberto Avila of Houston; two daughters Rosia Avila of Mexico and Maria Lopez of Ennis; brother Trinidad Gutierrez of Mexico; two sisters Fransisca Gutierrez of Mexico and Luz Gutierrez; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Rene Benavidez, Hermando Barcenas, Dionicio Lopez, Rogelio Lopez, Martin Guido, Gonzalo Lopez and Jose Padilla.

Interment followed in the St. Josephs cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary in Ennis.

Paul Nicholas Lalla
Aug. 1, 1940 – Feb. 25, 2001

CEDAR HILL – Funeral services for Paul Nicholas Lalla, 60 of Cedar Hill, were held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001 at Green Funeral Home with Father Raul Garza officiating.

Born on Aug. 1, 1940 in Chicago, Ill., the son of Paul and Sophie Malczan Lalla, he passed away Feb. 25, 2001 in Cedar Hill.

Preceded in death by his father; he is survived by his wife Patricia G. Lalla of Cedar Hill; his mother of Mauston, Wis.; daughters Nicole Lalla of Richardson and Alison Lalla of Atlanta, Ga.; son Curtis Paul Lalla of Galveston; and sister Rose Cabaj of Cedar Hill.

Pallbearers were Ben Gresham, Larry Gresham, Fred Torres, William M. Cabha, William S. Caba and David Lundeen.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 8900 John W. Carpenter Frwy., Dallas, Tx. 75247 or the Dallas Zoological Society, 650 S. RL. Thornton Frwy., Dallas, Tx. 75203.

Interment followed in the D.F.W. National cemetery in Dallas under the direction of Green Funeral Home in Ferris.

Velma Redmond
Jan. 21, 1911 – Feb. 18, 2001

ENNIS – Funeral services for Velma Redmond, 90 of Ennis, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001 in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Karen Cravens officiating and Rev. Glenn Jones assisting.

Born on Jan. 21, 1911 in Ft. Worth, the daughter of John B. and Velma Elmore Erisman, she passed away Feb. 18, 2001 at the IOOF Nursing Home in Ennis.

Preceded in death by her husband Dr. Harold E. Redmond and daughter Jeanne Redmond in 1978; she is survived by her daughter Rosemary Redmond of Ennis; and two sisters Betty Clark of Mississippi and Helen McDonnel of Milwaukee, Wis.

Pallbearers were R.E. Erisman III, R.E. Erisman IV, John Erisman, Kyle Rann and Phillip Shipp. Honorary pallbearers were J.C. McDonnel and Dr. Robert Shipp.

Interment followed in the Restever Mausoleum in Bryan at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, 2001 under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary in Ennis.

James R. Whitfill
May 31, 1922 – Feb. 22, 2001

ENNIS – Funeral services for James R. Whitfill, 78 of Ennis, were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26, 2001 in St. Johns Catholic Church with Rev. Fred Caldwell as celebrant.

Born on May 31, 1922 in Alma, the son of Richard and Alice Whitfill, he passed away Feb. 22, 2001 in Ennis.

He is survived by his wife Winnie of Ennis; son and wife Jimmy and Lisa Whitfill of Ennis; three daughters and sons-in-law Linda and Rex Waldrop, Susan and Ronnie Slovak and Cindy and Joe Bouldin all of Ennis; brother Windell Whitfill of Dallas; sister Helen Fowler of Alma; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Interment followed in the St. Josephs cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary in Ennis.

Calvin Wayne Barnes
May 20, 1937 – Feb. 19, 2001

PARIS – Funeral services for Calvin Wayne Barnes, 63 of Paris, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, 2001 in the chapel of Boze-Mitchell Funeral Home.

Born on May 20, 1937 in Frost, the son of Shelby and Mary Rawlins Barnes, he passed away Feb. 19, 2001 at the Christus St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paris.

Preceded in death by his parents, and brother Donal Ray Barnes; he is survived by his wife Joanne Barnes of Paris; two daughters Tina Storti of Lake Dallas and Kristi England of Cedar Hill; son Bryan Barnes of Independence, Ky.; three brothers Jerry, Gene and Max Barnes and nine grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Boze-Mitchell Funeral Home in Waxahachie.

Vincent W. Zaloudek Jr.
July 3, 1923 – Feb. 13, 2001

ENNIS – Mass of Christian Burial services for Vincent W. Zaloudek Jr., 77 of Ennis, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001 in St. Johns Catholic Church with Rev. Fred Caldwell celebrant.

Born on July 3, 1923 in Chicago, Ill., the son of Vincent M. and Anna Vanek Zaloudek Sr., he passed away Feb. 13, 2001 at his home.

He is survived by his two sisters Helene Valek of Ennis and Lillian A. Krippner of Dallas; and his brother-in-law and his wife Gene and Jan Burris of Ennis.

Pallbearers were Becket Grimmett, Myles Grimmett, David Goodwyn, Etienne Grimmett, Michael Doviak and Quinn Grimmett.

Interment followed in the Myrtle cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary in Ennis.

Clifford Duane Phillips
March 19, 1932 - May 13, 2001

FERRIS - Graveside services for Clifford Duane Phillips, 69 of Ferris, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2001 in the DFW National cemetery with Bro. McJohn Bagley officiating.

Born on March 19, 1932 in Carrizozo, N.M., the son of Festus Clifford and Ester Perry Phillips, he passed away May 13, 2001 at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas.

Preceded in death by his parents, son Tommy Phillips, brother Ernest Phillips and sister Ruby Phillips Parker; he is survived by his wife Mary M. Phillips of Ferris; daughter and son-in-law Deana Ransom and Jay of Meridan; sons and daughters-in-law Tony Ferguson and Valarie of Duncanville and Darrell Ferguson and Sherry of Forney; and sisters Billie Jo Voss of Ft. Worth and Wanda Prestridge of Mesquite; and brothers Gene Phillips of Hansford, Calif., Nolan Phillips of San Jose, Calif. and Steve Phillips of Fayetteville, Ark.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Green Funeral Home in Ferris.

WAXAHACHIE - Graveside services for Mary Lee Campbell, 77, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2001 at Hillcrest Burial Park with Paul O'Rear of College Street Church of Christ officiating.

Born on Jan. 28, 1924 in Waxahachie, the daughter of Robert Angus Hobson and Mary Roberts, she passed away May 11, 2001 at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas.

Preceded in death by her husband W.R. (D.I.) Campbell, son W.R. (Bob) Campbell and brother Robert Angus Jr.; she is survived by daughters Cindy Fancher and Charlotte Reed of Midlothian; and daughter-in-law Susan Campbell and her children Kate Campbell and Collin Campbell of Bullard.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Boze-Mitchell Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
