Funeral services for baby Corrine Marie Palomarez are 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Needville.
Visitation is 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary, Friday, April 17, at Angeles Crest Funeral Home in Rosenberg.
Baby Corrine Marie Palomarez was born Oct. 21, 2008, and joined the little angels in Heaven Wednesday, April 15, 2009.
She is survived by her loving parents, Toni Marie Ayala and Manuel Palomarez; sister, Christiana Marie Palomarez; grandparents: Cynthia and Eddie Montalvo, and Irma and Steve Carranza; and other loving family members.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Angeles Crest Funeral Home, 722 Grillo Way in Rosenberg, 281-238-0037.

Frank Garrett

Graveside services for Frank Eugene Garrett, 81, of Rosenberg, are 11 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2009, at Pattison cemetery in Pattison.
Frank was born Aug. 13, 1927, in Pattison, to Sam Garrett and Mabel Jean Phillips Garrett. He passed away Monday, April, 13, 2009, at Fort Bend Healthcare Center in Rosenberg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and older brother, Sam Harold Garrett of Hockley.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Vera Katherine McClendon Garrett; daughters, Katherine Jean Heatherly and husband, Fred, of Whitney, and Gloria Ann Grissom and husband, James, of Richmond; three grandchildren: Kristina Renea Lackland and husband, Larry, of Thrall, Shawn Garrett Kurten and wife, Wendy, of Waxahachie, and Jamie Renee Grissom of Richmond; three great-grandchildren, Michael Wells and Megan Wells of Thrall, and Garrett Kurten of Waxahachie; younger brothers, Charles Lloyd Garrett of Tyler, and James Garrett and wife, Jean, of Garland; aunt, Ellen Phillips of Sealy; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Frank was baptized April 13, 1941, in the Pattison Methodist Church. After graduating from Pattison High School, he served his country honorably in the U.S. Army in World War II, serving overseas from 1945–1947. He was discharged Dec. 29, 1947. Frank worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company all over Texas for 41 years, retiring Dec. 26, 1987.
Joining the First Baptist Church of El Campo, he served in many positions there. He later moved to Waller, and worked in the community and in the First Baptist Church of Waller. He then moved to Alvin. At the time of his death, he was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Rosenberg.
Frank was a member of the Waller Lions Club, serving as president in 1967-1968. He was a Waller City Councilman for two terms. He was a member of the Rosenberg American Legion Post No. 271, and a member of Rosenberg Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 3903. On March 14, 1955, Frank became a Mason in El Campo Lodge No. 535, and he became a Master Mason in 1960. He served offices in the El Campo Lodge and the Waller Lodge No. 808, serving as Worshipful Master in the Waller Lodge No. 808 from 1971-72. He was a member of the Houston Scottish Rite and the Arabia Shrine Temple AAONMS of Houston, a member of the Rosenberg Lodge 881, and a member of the Rosenberg Order of the Eastern Star 429, at the time of his death. He was an Honorary Life Member of the Communications Workers of America. In all the communities in which he lived, he worked every chance he could on community projects.
Frank enjoyed fishing, water skiing, and traveling with his family and friends, until his illness prevented it. He loved camping for over 30 years, and he belonged to the Shriner’s Camper Club.
Memorials may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2242 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, Texas 77030-2008.
Services are under the direction of Garmany and Carden Funeral Directors, 1201 Fourth St. in Rosenberg, 281-342-4671.

Robert Parker

Funeral services for Robert Gene Parker are noon Saturday, April 18, 2009, at 12 noon, at the Encampment Building on Ash Road in Simonton, with Superintendent Albert J. Jackson Jr. officiating. Robert passed away at his home in Fulshear.
Visitation is 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, April 17, at Rose-Rich Funeral and Cremation Chapel, 1201 Preston St. in Richmond.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his mother, Lola Bell Parker; brothers: Pastor Donald R. Rogers and wife, Rochelle, Gable Parker Jr. and wife, Laura, Edward Parker, John R. Parker, and Thomas Parker and wife, Juanita; sisters: Carrie Greenwood and husband, Willie, Thelma Hooker and husband, Reggie, Barbara Parker, and Irene Alford, a “play” sister; and six aunts, two uncles, and host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Rose-Rich Funeral and Cremation.

Flora Wallace

Funeral services for Flora “Honey” Wallace, 63, of Sealy, are 11 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2009, at Nazareth Baptist Church, 500 Elm St. in Rosenberg, with the Rev. C.L. Wallace officiating. Burial follows in Peaceful Rest cemetery in Needville.
A wake service is 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Nazareth Baptist Church.
Honey passed away Saturday, April 11, 2009.
Final arrangements are entrusted to the care of Gooden Funeral Home, 1716 Ave. E in Rosenberg, 281-342-9169.

Gloria Cobbin

Funeral services for Gloria E. Cobbin, 72, of Richmond are noon Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, 14215 FM 2759 in Thompsons, with the Rev. N. Walker officiating the services and the Rev. R. Rueben providing the eulogy. Burial follows in Mt. Pilgrim cemetery in Thompsons.
Visitation is 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church.
Gloria passed away April 13, 2009.
Final arrangements are entrusted to the care of Gooden Funeral Home, 1716 Ave. E in Rosenberg, 281-342-9169.

Daniel Vasquez

Daniel Vasquez, 49, of Sugar Land, was born May 24, 1959, to Jose Vasquez and Guadalupe Garcia Vasquez, and passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, April 15, 2009, in Houston.
Daniel was a devoted cowboy who loved horses. He was the family jokester, making everyone always laugh. He always had a smile on his face, ready to greet everyone and anyone. His humor will be greatly missed by all.
A memorial mass, officiated by the Rev. Stephen B. Reynolds, is 10 a.m. Monday, April 20, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 115 Seventh St. in Sugar Land.
Daniel is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Guadalupe Vasquez; brother-in-law, Isaias Reyna Jr.; and sister-in-law, Adela Ruiz.
Daniel was a loving brother and friend who will be greatly missed.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his brothers: Felix Ruiz of Sugar Land, Jesse Mendiola and wife, Olga, of Missouri City, Ruben Mendiola and wife, Melissa, of Rosenberg, and Joe Vasquez Jr. of Texarkana; sisters, Mary Vasquez and husband, Joe, of Pasadena, Carmen Reyna of Richmond, Gloria Hernandez and husband, Nervy, of Houston, and Diana Brooks and husband, Shellie of Dallas.
The family would like to thank everyone for their support during their time of need.

Mary Maurine Culpepper Schultz

Graveside services for Mary Maurine Culpepper Schultz, 79, are 1 p.m. Monday, April 20, 2009, at Morton cemetery in Richmond.
Mary Maurine Culpepper Schultz passed away after an extended illness on Friday, April 17, 2009, at her home in Richmond.
She was born in Lost Prairie, Texas, on October 7, 1929, to Ruth Johnson Culpepper and Robert Earl Culpepper. She married Emmit A. Schultz on October 27, 1946, at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Richmond. “Rene,” as she was known to many friends and family, and Emmit owned and operated Wharton Drug Company for many years. Rene and business partner Lynn Reese owned and operated “The Real Meal” for several years in Richmond.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and siblings Doris Josephine Webb, Iris Emma Hardison, Elone Garber, Hazel Ruth Cox and Frederick Earl Culpepper.
She is survived by her beloved sister, Rachel Kliem of Richmond, and children Stephen W. Schultz, Ranelle Krejci and Lisa Mann; grandchildren Stephanie Schultz, Monica Canady, Heather McBride, Mandy Casey, Dani Krejci, Sarah Mann and Kate Mann; great-grandchildren Reese McBride, Lauren Canady and Jack Casey; and special niece and nephew Patricia Combs and Mike Webb as well as numerous other family members and friends.
Her beauty and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her. Her family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Dr. Sylvester Vaughns, Odyssey Health Care and special nurses Elida, Debbie and Sharon whose care and compassion reminded us all that there truly are angels among us.

Stella Macha

Stella Macha, 66, went to be with the Lord Saturday, April 18, 2009. The Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, at St. Joseph’s on the Brazos Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal follows in Davis-Greenlawn cemetery in Rosenberg.
Visitation is 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary, Tuesday, April 21, at St. Joseph’s on the Brazos Catholic Church in Brazoria.
Stella was born Nov. 11, 1942, in San Antonio, to Alois and Stella Svoboda. Stella and her husband, Syl Macha, moved to Angleton in 1966 to raise their family. She assisted Syl with his insurance business, but most importantly, she was a dedicated wife and mother. She devoted her life to raising their four children, instilling in them the virtues of respect, faith, integrity, and kindness.
She taught each of her children how to prepare a good meal. Stella was an excellent cook who loved hosting large family gatherings and celebrating holidays and the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren, and that sense of hospitality and nurturing carries on with each of her children. In addition, Stella enjoyed gardening and sewing.
Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Even though they were separated by miles, Stella and Syl traveled to be present for important milestones in their grandchildren’s lives, as well as for family vacations.
Stella was an avid cat-lover all of her life, and she had a soft spot for animals in need. Stray cats somehow knew if they made it to Stella’s back patio that they would either be fed, adopted by her, or rescued and placed in another home.
Stella was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Cheryl; her father, and husband, Syl Macha.
She is survived by her mother, Stella Svoboda; children: Donna Wolf and husband, Joe, Michelle Horsley and husband, Brent, David Macha and wife, Olya, and Karen Barton and husband, Cary; sister, Rose Murphy; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Dennis and Judy Macha, Jerome and Jeannie Macha, Charlie and Jean Macha, Larry and Christine Dover, Pat and Doris Macha, Dexter and Mary Lavender, Mark and Berna Pilcik, and Tim and Terry Macha; grandchildren: Chris and Ryan Gilbert, Allison and Natalie Barton, Luke Horsley and Isabella Macha; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Kenneth Gutowsky, Nathan Gutowsky, Greg Haston, Carl Herbst, Chuck Wleczyk and Ricky Wleczyk.
Honorary pallbearers are Charles Herbst, Lewis Gardner, Brian Murphy and Stephen Pope.
For those wishing, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, or to Fisher House at Brooks Army Medical Center in San Antonio, or to St. Joseph’s Helping Hand for the Needy through St. Joseph’s on the Brazos Catholic Church in Brazoria.

Arnold Martinez

Ray Martinez, 44, of Rosenberg, are 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009, at Angeles Crest Funeral Home in Rosenberg, with interment following at West Gethsemane cemetery.
Visitation is 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. rosary, Friday, April 24, at Angeles Crest Funeral Home in Rosenberg.
Arnold was born May 8, 1964, in East Bernard, and he passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2009.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Cesaria Martinez; grandmother, Teresa D. Martinez, his beloved Ama.
Arnold is survived by his loving wife, Janie “Janice” Ortiz Martinez; sons: Arnold Ray Martinez Jr., Michael Ray Martinez and Joseph Martinez; daughter, Jessica Martinez; granddaughters: Karina Cesaria Martinez and Miranda Maria Martinez; sisters: Sarah Martinez, Rachel DeLosSantos and Janette Martinez; and brother, Emeraldo Lopez.
