Arlene May Roy

ROCHESTER — Arlene May Roy, 76, died Thursday evening, July 17, 2003, at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph. She was born Dec. 19, 1926 in Springfield, the daughter of Edison and Florence (Nelson) Parker.

She attended Rochester schools and graduated from Rochester High School in 1944. She worked for her father at Parker’s Inn in Rochester, for several years.

She was married to Walter Severy and later married Rene Roy in Rochester. He died in 2000.

Her memberships included the Moss Glen Grange in Granville and the Route 100 Lions Club of Rochester. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, watching the birds and watching old movies.

She is survived by two sons: Gregory Severy of Merrimack, N.H. and Terry Severy of Rochester; two daughters: Janice Sliz of Nashua, N.H. and Lesa Larmie of Stockbridge; a brother Richard Parker of Cleveland, Ohio; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, July 26, at 11 a.m. at the Woodlawn cemetery in Rochester with the Rev. Dr. William Daniels officiating. There are no calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Valley Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 131, Rochester, Vt. 05767.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Day Funeral Home, Randolph.

Maebell McCrillis

ROYALTON — Maebell "Pip" McCrillis, 15, died suddenly Monday, March 10, 2003 at the home of her caregivers, Sheila and Bob Quillia, in Royalton.

She was born July 20, 1987 in Tunbridge, the daughter of Jeffrey B. McCrillis and Kimberly Lewis.

Her life was full of challenges, but mostly an over abundance of love and laughter from all who knew her. She loved unconditionally with a pure and honest heart. She enjoyed the simple things in life, listening to music, being read to, having her hair played with, nails painted, Elmo, going to Walt Disney World, long walks outdoors and the touch of caring hands.

She could make people smile easily with the smallest giggle or biggest grin. Maebell will be forever in the lives of the people that knew her because she will be forever in their hearts. Many people that knew, loved or worked with Maebell always seemed to go above and beyond to make her life the best it could be, one day at a time. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.

Survivors include her mother and step-father, Kimberly Lewis and Bobbie Joe Tibbits of Enfield Center, N. H.; her father, Jeffrey B. McCrillis of Tunbridge; two sisters, Felicia McCrillis of Tunbridge and Amanda Flanagan of Roxbury; her paternal great-grandmother, Muriel Wagoner of White River Jct.; paternal grandparents, Charles "Bud" and Phyllis McCrillis of Tunbridge; maternal grandmother, Jean Lewis of Roxbury; several aunts, uncles, cousins and the caring, loving Quillia family in Royalton, where she spent the last few months.

A funeral service was held Friday, March 14, at the Beth-El Christian Fellowship Church in South Royalton, with Pastor David Wright officiating. The bearers were Aaron Moses, Clay Tucker, Pat Brennan, Dan Mullen, and Jeff McCrillis. Family and friends were invited to attend fellowship after the service which was hosted by the church family.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Boardway & Cilley Funeral Home in Chelsea.

Berniece H. Berry

BRAINTREE — Berniece H. Berry, 91, died Saturday, March 15, 2003, at her home in Braintree.

She was born Oct. 22, 1911 in Cabot, the daughter of Edgar and Margaret (Lamora) Houghton.

She attended Danville schools and graduated from Danville High School. Following her education she worked at the Berry-Ball Department Store in St. Johnsbury, for a couple of years.

She married Lawrence Berry Oct. 4, 1931 in East Randolph. He died in 1973.

She worked at the Randolph National Bank in Randolph. She held many positions there and retired as an administrative assistant, with over 30 years of service.

She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church. She enjoyed oil painting, knitting, crocheting and playing the piano. She was instrumental in getting a band started at Randolph High school.

Survivors include a sister, Pauline Handy of St. Johnsbury; a daughter-in-law, Shayne Berry of Hinsdale, N.H.; four grandchildren: Wayne Berry, Esq., of Philadelphia, Penna.; Melissa Berry-Brown of Bellows Falls; and Denise Berry and Diane Berry, both of Greenfield, Mass.; and two great-grandchildren, Johanna Berry and Shane Berry-Brown.

She was pre-deceased by two sons, Duane Berry and Lawrence Berry, Jr.

Graveside services will be held at a later date at the Pleasant View cemetery in Randolph with Rev. Timothy Eberhardt officiating. There are no calling hours.

Friends may make memorial contributions to either St. John’s Episcopal Church, Summer St., Randolph, Vt. 05060 or Randolph Union High School Music Boosters, 15 Forest St., Randolph, Vt. 05060.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Day Funeral Home, Randolph.

Sherry A. Gay

ROCHESTER — Sherry A. Gay, 45, died Saturday, March 15, 2003 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. after a two year battle with cancer.

She was born Aug. 13, 1957 in Rutland, the daughter of Leon and Edna (Thresher) Fairbanks.

She was employed as a waitress at the Vermont Home Bakery in Hancock, before failing health forced her to retire. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, being outdoors and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her mother, Edna Fairbanks Williams of Hubbarton; her husband, Allan Gay of Rochester; two sons, Michael Fairbanks of Granville, and Luke Lee of Orlando, Fla.; two step-sons, Toby Gay of Randolph and Robert Gay of Burlington, Mass.; a step-daughter, Michelle Parrish of Rochester; two sisters, Margaret Scribner of Castleton and Angela Carter of Ocala, Fla.; one brother, John Fairbanks of Forestdale; five grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her step-father, Doug Williams, and a brother, Alfred Fairbanks.

There will be no calling hours. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Barnard Funeral Home in Pittsford.

Edith Blanchard

Bethel — Edith H. Blanchard, 84, of Bethel, died Tuesday afternoon, March 18, 2003 at the Brookside Nursing Home in White River Junction.

She was born Aug. 6, 1918 in Gaysville, the daughter of Frank and Ethel (Robinson) Howard. She was raised in Stockbridge, and attended Ranney School, graduating from Whitcomb High School in Bethel.

She married Hector Blanchard Sept. 10, 1949 in Bethel. He died in 1957.

She enjoyed dancing, and was a lifetime Stockbridge-Bethel area resident.

Survivors include her sisters: Esther Merrill of Bethel, Eunice Lampher of Bradford, and Ethel Hill of Cromwell, Conn. and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brothers Earl and Walter, and two sisters, Prudence Graziano and Mary Goodrich.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 22nd at 11 a.m. at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph, with Rev. Steve Ellis, officiating. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in the spring at the Mount Pleasant cemetery in Stockbridge.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the South Royalton Senior Center So. Royalton, Vt. or to the Bethel Food Shelf, c/o Maryann Batcheller, P.O. Box 353, Bethel, Vt. 05032.

Irene C. Blaisdell

EAST RANDOLPH — Irene C. Blaisdell, 81, died late Sunday night, July 23, 2000 at the Berlin Health and Rehab Center in Berlin. She was born in Barre, Vt., Sept. 19, 1918, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Wheeler) Cady.

She was educated in Randolph schools and graduated from Randolph High School in 1937.

She married Kenneth Blaisdell September 30, 1939. He died March 10, 1976. She farmed with her husband, helped with the sugaring and sold eggs. She also worked at the Van Raalte Co. and Waterbury Plastics Co., both of Randolph.

Her interests included sewing, reading, bowling, cooking and pie making. She was a member of the revitalization committee of East Randolph.

She is survived by two sons, Carlton Blaisdell of Cabot and Kenneth Blaisdell of East Randolph; three daughters; Judy Harvey of Wilmington, North Carolina; Shirley Duquette of Websterville and Joyce Collier of Fairfield; 20 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was pre-deceased by a brother, Leon Cady, and four sisters; Lorraine Lamberton, Nellie Flint, Lena Leno and Isabelle Cady. Funeral services will be held Thursday July 27, at the Day Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with Rev. Albert Collins of Websterville and Rev. Robert Leno officiating. Calling hours will be 1-2 p.m. Thursday, July 27.

Burial will be in the East Randolph cemetery.
