BEATRICE LOUISE ARNOLD
June 7, 1924 - December 7, 2013

Randolph, VT - BEATRICE L. ARNOLD, 89, of Randolph, died Saturday morning, December 7, 2013 at Menig Extended Care Facility.

She was born June 7, 1924 in Bethel, and graduated at the top of her class at Whitcomb High School in 1942. Beatrice was a very interesting lady, and stayed at home to help her mother care for foster children. She had lived in Bethel and Randolph Center before moving to Randolph, and enjoyed reading.

Survivors include her uncle, Arnold Preston of Chelsea; aunts, Bernice Beide of Washington, VT and Ann McCullough of Randolph; many cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Mary Arnold; uncles, Burton Preston, Warren Preston, and Everett Preston; and aunt, Agnes Booska.

Graveside Memorial Services will be held in the Spring at Fairview cemetery in Bethel. There will be no calling hours. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Menig Extended Care Facility, Resident Activity Fund, P.O. Box 2000, Randolph, VT 05060.

OTIS N. TILTON
April 13, 1927 - December 3, 2013

Randolph, VT - OTIS N. TILTON, 86, of Randolph, died Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Gifford Medical Center.

He was born in Randolph; the son of Newell and Nina (Haraden) Tilton. A lifetime Randolph resident, he had farmed and was a residential carpenter for most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was married to Grazia Judd in Rochester on Aug. 26, 1950. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing horseshoes, gardening, and baking pies and muffins.

Survivors include his son, Chuck Tilton and wife, Diana of Randolph; daughters, Linda Brailey and husband, George of Post Mills, Sarah Gerdes and husband, Paul of Northfield, and Brenda Washburn and husband, Mark of Bethel; sister, Myrtle Hall and husband, Azel of Randolph; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, son, Gary and sister, Isabelle Norton.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00pm Friday, Dec. 6th at the Day Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow at Pleasant View cemetery. A calling hour will be from 1:00pm-service time Friday at the funeral home. Contributions in his memory may be made to Gifford Medical Center Last Mile Ride, P.O. JOYCE E. MACNAIR
(April 1, 1931 - November 27, 2013)

Randolph, VT - JOYCE E. MACNAIR, 82, of Randolph, died peacefully Wednesday afternoon, November 27, 2013 at her home, under hospice care.

She was born April 1, 1931 in the Bronx, NY; the daughter of Thomas and Eleanor (Schaub) Hogben. She was raised in the Bronx, and had lived in Pleasantville, NY for 34 years before moving to Randolph in 1997. She had worked for New York Telephone, then as a computer operator for Helen Whiting Clothing Manufacturing in Pleasantville and Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Terrytown, NY. Joyce was married to Thomas MacNair on June 18, 1952 in New York City, and had been a member of the Contemporary Club in Pleasantville. She enjoyed gardening, animals and bird watching.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas MacNair of Randolph, and nephew, Thomas Kudrle of Babylon, NY. She was predeceased by her sister, Doris Kudrle.

A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, December 14th, 1:00 P.M. at the Randolph Area Senior Center, 6 Hale St., Randolph. All who knew Joyce are invited to attend. Refreshments will be served.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Randolph Food Shelf, 12 Prince St #3, Randolph, VT 05060 or to the Randolph Senior Center, 6 Hale Street, Randolph, VT 05060.

Arrangements are by the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.

NANCY A. DUBOIS
(July 13, 1930 - November 25, 2013)

Randolph, VT - Nancy Angell DuBois was born in Randolph, Vermont on July 13, 1930 and died on November 25, 2013.

She was the daughter of Wilmer (Dr. Bill) Angell and Margaret Dickie Angell of Randolph. Nancy grew up in this community and attended its school. She graduated from Randolph High School and the North Hampton School for Girls, North Hampton, MA. She graduated from Skidmore College, Saratoga, NY in 1953. In 1953, Nancy and Richard DuBois of Randolph, VT were married . Their lives and work took them from Cambridge, MA to Mt. Holly, PA, to Harrisburg, PA to Beverly, MA and Scarsdale, NY. In 1960, Nancy and Richard settled in Randolph where Richard founded the engineering firm, DuBois & King. Their lives then centered around the community of Randolph. Nancy was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and in 1988 was ordained as a vocational deacon in The Diocese of Vermont. She was assigned to St. John's Church in Randolph where she served six years. Her husband Richard predeceased her in 1998. For a time Nancy served as a chaplin at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph, VT.

She is survived by three of her children: Jane DeCarolis and her husband Doug of Lakeville, MN; Ben DuBois of Savage, MN; and Peter DuBois of Randolph, VT; her son William predeceased her in April 2013; three grandchildren: Katie Kellum and her husband Jesse of Apple Valley, MN; Derek DeCarolis of Minneapolis, MN; Mathew DeCarolis of Minneapolis, MN; one great-granddaughter: Aria Kellum of Apple Valley, MN; her sister-in-law Joan Angell of Eau Claire, WI; one brother, Thomas Angell and his wife Dee Angell of Apple Valley, MN; her brother David predeceased her in May 2013. There are many cousins in Massachusetts and Washington. Nancy believed in love, laughter, kindness and a safe journey home. She most enjoyed her family and friends, handiwork and reading. Her church, St. John's was a central factor in all her life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church Memoral Fund, 15 Summer Street, Randolph, VT 05060. A church service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at St John's Episcopal Church, 15 Summer Street, Randolph, Vermont. Arrangements are under the care of Day's Funeral Home, Randolph, VT.

DUANE O. ROGERS
(March 18, 1918 - February 14, 2012)
U.S. Veteran

Randolph Center, VT - DUANE O. ROGERS, 93, of Randolph Center, died Tuesday afternoon, February 14, 2012 at his home.

He was born March 18, 1918 in Bethel, VT; the son of Robert & Bessie (Smith) Rogers. He was raised in Bethel, and attended the Vermont Agricultural School in Randolph Center. Duane served with the U.S. Army Blue Devils during World War II, and was awarded the Purple Heart for heroic service. He was married to Florence Belisle in Randolph on July 24, 1946. Duane had farmed, droved truck, hauled milk for United Dairy, and worked in maintenance at Tranquility Nursing Home. He was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, and enjoyed vegetable gardening and hunting. He was instrumental in the placement of benches and the permanent flags at the Vermont Veterans cemetery in Randolph Center.

Survivors include his wife, Florence Rogers of Randolph Center; daughter, Patricia Williams and her husband, Philip of Randolph Center, and Shirley Rogers Burton and her husband, Henry of Bangor, ME; sisters, Lucille Howard of Ohio and Rosetta Willie of Rutland; grandchildren, Philip Williams, Jr. and his wife Crystal, Karen Boulanger and her husband, Andre, Courtney Boyd and his wife, Kathy, and Kristi Partlow and her husband, Rory; great-grandchildren, Craig, Casey, and Danielle Boulanger, and Dylan and Hunter Partlow. He was predeceased by nine brothers and four sisters.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:30am Friday, June 8, 2012 at the Vermont Veterans Memorial cemetery Chapel in Randolph Center, with Rev. Kathy Eddy, officiating. There are no calling hours. Burial with military honors will follow. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Vermont Veterans Memorial cemetery, % Office of Veterans Affairs, 118 State Street, Montpelier, VT 05620. Arrangements by Day Funeral Home in Randolph.

EDMUND C. THERRIEN
(September 24, 1942 - February 13, 2012)
U.S. Veteran

Sharon, VT - EDMUND C. THERRIEN, 69, of Sharon, died Monday evening, February 13, 2012 at his home.

He was born September 24, 1942 in Lebanon, NH; the son of Homer and Estelle (Voghell) Therrien. He was raised in Brookfield and graduated from Braintree-Randolph Union High School in 1961. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, and was married to Gloria C. Manning in White River Junction on Oct. 4, 1970. Edmund worked on his father’s farm in Brookfield, drove truck for Gomez Livestock in Lebanon, and was service manager for New England Equipment John Deere Dealership from 1979-2001. He then sold parts for Lucky’s Equipment, retiring in 2004. Edmund enjoyed going to and showing at Antique Car Shows, rebuilding Dodge pickups, bluegrass music, fishing, and landscaping.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Therrien of Sharon; mother, Estelle Therrien of Randolph; sons, Edmund C. Therrien, Jr. of Presque Isle, ME and Eric J. Therrien of Andover, NH; daughters, Kimberly Joyce Therrien of Sharon and Kenderlyn Sue Phelps of East Fairfield, VT; brothers, Homer Therrien Jr. of North Berwick, ME and Raymond Therrien of Hudson Falls, NY; sisters, Helen Sabens of Barre, Susan Smith of Three Rivers, MA, Patricia Gaiko of White River Jct, and Alyce Broulliard of Colchester; six grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Roland Therrien.

Services will be held at 11:00am Friday, Feb. 17th at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bethel, with Rev. Kenneth Ekekwe, officiating. Calling hours are from 5:00-7:00pm Thursday at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Food Shelf of your choice.

EDITH C. BARCOMB
(Died February 12, 2012)

East Bridgewater, MA - EDITH BARCOMB, 96, of East Bridgewater, MA and formerly of Randolph, VT, died Sunday morning, February 12, 2012 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton, MA.

She was born October 27, 1915 in Derby, VT; the daughter of Joseph and Jennie (Favereau) Chaloux. She graduated from Randolph High School and lived in Randolph until moving to East Bridgewater in 1980. She was married to Wilmer Barcomb in Randolph on April 23, 1948. Edith had worked for VanRaalte Industries, Belmains Department Store, Red and White, and Waterbury Plastics before retiring in 1985. She was a member of St. Donatian & Rogation Catholic Church in Randolph, that church’s Lady’s Guild, and was a former member of the St. Jean DeBaptiste Society and Randolph Senior Center. Edith enjoyed gardening, sewing, and being involved with her family. Edith’s joy was her family and friends.

Survivors include her daughter, Joanne Smith and her husband, Charles; grand-daughters, Alysha Smith Zipeto and her husband, Anthony, and Allyson Smith, all of East Bridgewater; many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart. She enjoyed each one of them, and fondly told stories of their accomplishments. She was predeceased by her husband in 1973; brothers, Wilfred, Wilbridge, Pierre, and Rosario “Pete” Chaloux; sisters, Rose Greenwood, Bernadette Duto, Antoinette Duchaine-Betit, Lillian Cote, and Leona Gratton.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am Saturday, Feb. 18th at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Randolph, with Rev. John Milanese, officiating. Calling hours are from 9:30-10:30am Saturday at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph. Burial will be in the spring at Holy Cross cemetery in Randolph. Contributions in her memory may be made to Chandler Center for the Arts, 71-73 N. Main Street, Randolph, VT 05060.

WARREN G. BLAISDELL
(Died February 6, 2012)

Randolph - Warren G. Blaisdell, 86, died Monday, February 6, 2012 at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph.

He was born May 13, 1925 in Randolph the son of Ernest G. and Alice (Williams) Blaisdell.

Warren was raised on the family farm in E. Randolph. He attended Randolph schools and graduated from Randolph High School in 1943. He later attended Vermont School of Agriculture graduating in 1947. He was married to Beatrice Bowen June 18, 1950 in Bethel. Warren was a dairy farmer and had worked on the LaBounty Farm from 1951-1967. He then owned and operated Blaisdell Acres Farm, in Randolph, until retiring in 2000. His memberships included the Mystic Star-Phoenix Lodge #97 F. & A.M., the Jersey Cattle Club, Bethany Church, UVM Extension Service and during WW II was in the Vermont State Legion of Guardsmen. He had served on the Randolph Zoning Board. Over the years he had received numerous awards from the FFA, Farm Bureau, Jersey Cattle Club, Extension Service and the Vermont Soil Conservation Service. He loved numbers and enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing, gardening, honey bees and sugaring.

He is survived by his wife Beatrice Blaisdell of Randolph, 4 sons; Gilbert and Sarah Blaisdell of Howard, NY, Warren Blaisdell of Cedar Lake, MI, James Blaisdell of Randolph, John and Cathy Blaisdell of Randolph, 3 daughters; Susan and Jeffery Smith of Sterling, MA, Mary Fuller of Randolph, Jane Blaisdell of Bennington, 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by 3 sisters; Jennie Burke, Nellie Sarah “Sally” Sargent, Dorothy Sanford and a daughter-in-law Rhonda Blaisdell.

Memorial services will be held at a time and date to be announced later. There are no calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany United Church of Christ, Main St., Randolph, VT, the Randolph Area Senior Center, 6 Hale St., Randolph, VT or the Kimball Public Library, Main St., Randolph, VT 05060.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Day Funeral Home, Randolph.
