NANCY CLARK
Nancy Arms Clark, born August 7, 1941; died October 12, 2003. Nancy loved life
and lived it to the fullest. To give an account of her life will take up more
space than available. So instead, a list of highlights is presented here . . .
Nancy was born in Rockford, Ill. As a toddler she moved to Prairie du Chien
with her mother Emma and her brother Don. Shortly after she welcomed a baby brother Bud.
This family raised her along with her extended family Granpa Chumpy,
Special Aunt Rosie and Uncle George. Nancy soon became an active helper
in the garden. Her love for the earth and gardening followed her throughout
her life. She was always ready to go on an extended expedition whenever possible.
She attended St. John's Grade School and St. Mary's Academy in Prairie du Chien.
After graduation she worked for the General Telephone Co. until she met
and married Jack Clark. Jack and Nancy lived several places and finally
settled in Janesville. Nancy soon became very busy raising five children,
Greg, Michel, Renee, Dan and Darren. They were the love of her life!
She found life busy keeping up with her children. Even with a full
schedule, she made time to get her Real Estate license and found
success in this new career. In her 40's she decided to go back to college.
She attended UW Madison and graduated with honors with a degree
in Earth Sciences. At age 50, with children grown and degree in hand,
off to Texas she went which was a destination she often dreamed of.
She taught in the public school system until taking a teaching position
at Texas Juvenile Correctional Facility. She taught there until
her illness brought her back to Wisconsin in 2000. The past three years,
Nancy has fought a courageous battle with cancer. Nancy will be sadly miss
by her children: Greg, Michel and Laura, Dan and special friend Lisa,
Renee and Steve, and Darren and Irene; grandchildren, Jordan, Riley,
Delaney, Matthew, Shelby, Mackenzie and Taylor; her brother Bud and
wife Ginger. She is also survived by her half brothers, Don and Lee and
many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Preceding her in death is her mother Emma, father Lewis, a special
Aunt Rosie and grandson Mitchell Clark. "We come from the earth, we
return to the earth and in between we garden." There will be a memorial
service in Nancy Clark's honor at a later date.
