(nee Wolf) of CEDARBURG Nov. 30, 2002 age 94 years, widow of the late Michael W. Karls, dear mother of Dean E., Dale W. and the late Donald Karls, loving grandmother of Lt. Col. Christopher D. Karls and Dr. Jeffrey P. (Danette) Karls, great grandma of Alexandria and Maxwell, also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday Dec. 5, 11:30 am at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church SOUTH, Cedarburg. Interment St. Francis cemetery. Visitation at the CHURCH Thursday from 10 am until time of services. Memorials appreciated.

William F. Fisher

Mr. William Fisher age 71of 2065 East River Road, Town of Grafton, passed away Sunday November 17, 2002 at his residence. He was born in Manitowoc July 17, 1931 son of the late William and Anna Fabera Fisher. On September 27, 1958 he married Mildred Waack in Manitowoc. Mr. Fisher worked as a research associate for Fromm Laboratories in Grafton for 20 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and playing cards. William is survived by his wife Mildred of Grafton, son William L. (Lynn) of Sheboygan Falls, daughters Susan (William) Gertsch of Cedarburg and Cheryl (Kurt) Johnson of Fredonia, 6 grandchildren; Sara and Mark Fisher of Sheboygan Falls, Matthew and Ryan Gertsch of Cedarburg and Michael and Brandon Johnson of Fredonia, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on November 20, 2002 7 PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home 1600 W. Grand Ave. Port Washington with the Rev. John Suelflow officiating. Burial will take place in Woodlawn cemetery in Grafton. Visitation at the Funeral Home Wednesday from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to St. Paul Lutheran Church Find Us Faithful Fund or charity of your choice.

Lawrence N. Wellenstein

Mr. Lawrence Wellenstein age 90 years, of the Town of Belgium, passed away November 12, 2002 at The Waters of Seven Oaks care facility in Glendale where he had been a resident for the past three weeks. He was born in Lake Church July 19, 1912, son of the late Frank and Katherine Seiler Wellenstein. On October 7, 1939 he married Lucille Ternes at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lake Church. Lawrence was a carpenter and general contractor, running the family business Frank Wellenstein and Sons with his brothers. The business was started by his father in 1909. Mr. Wellenstein has built many of the lake homes between Port Washington and Oostburg, including his own home that he lived in from 1939 until the fall of 2002. Some of the other building projects the he did in the area was the gazebo in Community Park in the Village of Belgium that was built in 1994, when he was 82 years old. He also helped remodel the rectory and school at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lake Church, and built the current altar and confessionals, the Belgium Post Office and the club house at The Squires Country Club. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lake Church, a 35 year member of the Town of Belgium Planning Commission, a founding member and past president of the Lake Church Lake Shore Citizens League, and a former member of the trap shooting club of the Random Lake Rod and Gun Club, where in 1997 at the age of 85 shot a perfect 25. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Lucille of the Town of Belgium, children Marie (the late Paul) Emmer of Fredonia, Larry (Mary Jo) Wellenstein of Glendale, and Gail (Nicholas de Chadenedes, MD) Wellenstein, MD of Everett, WA. He is further survived by his grandchildren Amy (Scott) Jaeger, Katy Emmer, Max (Patty Sibbernsen) Wellenstein, Annie Wellenstein, and Mark and Brett de Chadenedes, brothers James and Elmer(Clara) of Lake Church, one sister Margaret Wellenstein of Lake Church, and two sisters-in-law Lovella Wellenstein of Grafton, and Gertrude Wellenstein of Milwaukee. He is preceded in death by his brothers Joseph, Leo, John and Henry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, November 16, 2002 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 6092 Lake Church Road, Belgium with Father James Vojtik officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will take place at the Eernisse Funeral Home 171 N. Royal Avenue in Belgium Friday, November 15 from 4-8 PM, and at the Church Saturday from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM.

Mabel E. Aagerup

Mabel Aagerup, age 93 years passed away Saturday evening October 12, 2002 at Heritage Nursing Home In Port Washington where she had been a resident for the last three years. Mabel was born in Chicago, IL on August 30, 1909 daughter of the late Frederick and Clara Witt Hoffmann. On December 24, 1927 she married Harold D. Aagerup in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death in 1968. Mrs. Aagerup worked in the offices and at the switchboard at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Port Washington. Mabel’s hobbies included playing cards, and her family. She is survived by her sons Harold (Barbara) of Port Washington, and Richard of Washburn, 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Thursday October 17, 7 PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home 1600 W. Grand Ave. Port Washington. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial cemetery in Milwaukee. Visitation at the Funeral Home Thursday from 4-7 PM. Eernisse Funeral Home Port Washington is assisting the family.

Jerome L. Dries “Jerry”

Jerry Dries, age 56 years of 336 Linsdale St. Belgium passed away suddenly October 15, 2002 at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital, Ozaukee Campus. He was born in Port Washington, WI May 22, 1946, son of John and Erma Mayer Dries. Mr. Dries served with the US Army as a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam Conflict. Jerry worked as a salesman for JT Roofing Contractors in Saukville. On October 5, 1998 he married Louise Gogolin. Mr. Dries is survived by his wife Louise of Belgium, sons Jason and Mitchell, stepdaughter Cavanaughn of Belgium, his mother Erma of Grafton, siblings Nancy ( Gene) Totzke of Lansing, MI, Barbara (Francis) Pierron of Saukville, Irene (Budd) Humphrey of Lake Geneva, Erma Large of California, and Fred (Debbie) Dries of Saukville. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preced into death by his father Jack Dries. Funeral services will be held on Friday eve. October 18, 2002 6 PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home 171 N. Royal Ave. Belgium with Father James Ernster officiating. American Legion and VFW rites will be conducted at 5:30 PM. Visitation at the Funeral Home Friday from 3-6 PM. The Eernisse Funeral Home, Belgium is assisting the family.

Bartz, Ronald J.

SAUKVILLE, October 20, 2002 age 65 years. Beloved husband of Virginia (nee Sliwinski), dear father of Ronald (Antoinette) Bartz, cherished son of Marian Robertson, loving grandpa of Jason, Jessica, Jennifer, Jamie and Josh. Further survived by 3 sisters: Gloria, Nancy and Sharon; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. preceded in death by his father Robbie Robertson. Funeral Wednesday, October 23, 2002 11AM at the Funeral Home. Interment Union cemetery, Saukville. In state at the Funeral Home Wednesday from 10-11 AM.

DAVID S. “HANS” ARENDT

Hans Arendt, age 42 years, of 3966 Hwy LL, in the Town of Port Washington, WI, died October 11, 2002 as a result of the fog-related collisions on I-43. He was born in Port Washington on January 12, 1960, son of Allan and Agnes Arendt. On February 14, 1980 he married Brenda Barsch in Port Washington. Mr. Arendt worked as an enamaler for Kohler Company. He had been an employee there for 14 years. He enjoyed hobby farming, helping people, hunting and going on cruises with his wife and friends. He was an “avid sports father” and enjoyed watching his sons grow up. Hans was a great mechanic, and was known for his love of a good time. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Brenda, of Port Washington, their 5 sons, Jeremiah, Joseph, Matthew, Michael and David Jr., all of the Port Washington area, his parents, Allan and Agnes Arendt and his parents-in-law, Roland and Mary Barsch, also of Port Washington. He is further survived by 6 brothers: Dan, Dale (Chris), Duane (Kathy Purtz), Dean “Butch”, all of Port Washington, Al Jr. (Marie) of Adell, Doug (Laurie) Arendt of Grafton, Denise (Kevin) Tappa of Port Washington, Debra (Larry) Newell of Mequon and Deanna (Rick) Lee of Grafton, 3 brothers-in-law: James (Karen) of Corpus Christi, TX, Roland “Rocky” (Brenda) of Magnolia, TX, and Brian (Rebekah) Barsch of Whitefish Bay, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 14, 2002 7:30 PM at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington, with Father Joseph Haas officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary’s cemetery, Port Washington. Visitation will be Monday AT CHURCH from 3-7:30 PM. Memorials to the family are appreciated. (nee Jackovich) Formerly of PORT WASHINGTON, Dec. 6, 2002, age 90 years. Wife of the late Peter Gora, beloved Mother of Barbara (Bob) Roob and Rosemary (Jerry) Marciniak, Loving Grandmother of Tim (Lauren), Christopher, Benjamin, Eric Roob and Nathan Marciniak, great grandmother of Ben Roob, Jr.. Further survived by 5 brothers: Steve, Andy (Bernice), Joseph, George (Tulley) and Ted (Eva) Jackovich, 1 sister, Dorothy Wozniak, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. preceded in death by 4 brothers: Michael, Nick, Frank and John and 2 sisters Ann Stella and Helen Jackovich. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, Dec. 10, 7 PM at St, Mary’s Catholic Church, Port Washington. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation Tues. at the CHURCH, 5-7PM. Memorials suggested to St. Mary’s Church or to the family for a future memorial in Mary’s name.

MARY E. JONES

Mary Elizabeth Jones, (nee Shearouse), age 74 years, of 224 S. Lar Ann St., Belgium, formerly of Savannah, GA, died peacefully Wednesday evening, February 26, 2003, at Columbia – St. Mary’s Hospital in Mequon. Mary was born in Savannah on August 14, 1928, daughter of Raymond and Helen Turner Shearouse. She was joined in Holy Matrimony with Ivy L. Jones on May 1, 1959 in Savannah. He preceded her in death on June 22, 1993. Mrs. Jones was a member of First Baptist Church of the Islands in Savannah, as well as the Order of the Eastern Star, White Star Chapter 367. She was an avid reader and enjoyed her family. A life long member of the Savannah community, Mary came to Belgium to live with her daughter in 2001. Mary is survived by a son, E. Dean (Lise’) Burgess, Jr. of Bollingbrook, IL, and a daughter, Diane (Marty) Rennicke of Belgium, WI. She is further survived by 3 granddaughters : Janice Stadler (special friend Eric Schlenvogt) of Fredonia, WI, Katie Bartoletta (fiancé Ken Grass) of Acworth, GA, Sarah McGhee (husband Ashley) of Dahlonega, GA, 1 grandson, Michael Rennicke (wife Peggy) of Belgium, WI, 1 great-grandson, Carson Rennicke of Belgium, WI, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and 1 sister, Alice Sage. Mrs. Jones remains will be placed next to her husband in Hillcrest Abbey, Savannah, GA. Eernisse Funeral Home assisted the family.

Dorthy I. Taylor

Dorothy I. Taylor age 86 years of Port Washington, formerly of Saukville, passed away in the early morning hours of March 25, 2003 at Heritage Nursing Home in Port Washington, where she had been a resident for the past eight years. She was born on September 22, 1916 in Centralia, IL daughter of the late Charles and Ann Woods Demey. Dorothy earned a degree in Nursing and worked as a register nurse at Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis, MO. On August 2, 1941 she married the Rev. Charles Taylor in Missouri. He preceded her in death in 1998. Dorothy attended church services at Fellowship Bible Church in Grafton on a regular basis. She also enjoyed doing a variety of hand-crafts, including knitting, crocheting, and cross-stitch, she enjoyed gardening, classical music and hymns (she was a soprano soloist) and was a huge animal lover. She is survived by her son Ed (Jean) Taylor of Cedarburg, daughter Gigi (Mark) Hecker of Fredonia, 7 grandchildren, Kevin (Donna) Taylor, Tracey Morrissey, Pat (Jodi) Taylor, Shawn (Joe) Wilkins, Adam Taylor, and Rachel and Michael Hecker. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren, her niece Ann Mae Fisher, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, 1 brother Edward Demey and 1 sister Helen Mowry. Funeral services for Mrs. Taylor will take place Sunday March 30 at 4 PM at Fellowship Bible Church 1415 2nd Avenue in Grafton. Interment will take place in Zur Ruhe cemetery in Cedarburg. Visitation will take place at the church from 2PM until the time of services.

Edward N. Lallensack

Mr. Edward Lallensack of 425 W. Walters St., formerly of the Town of Belgium passed away in the early morning hours Saturday November 9, 2002 at his residence. He was born in Manitowoc June 9, 1917 son of the late Frank and Mary Dirkman Lallensack. Ed married Rose Strauss on May 4, 1940 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lake Church. Six months earlier, they had bought a farm in the Town of Belgium, which they farmed until 2001. Edward was also a machinist for Mercury Marine for over 25 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lake Church a fifty year member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, a former member of the West Bend Square Steppers Square Dance Club and a former chairman of the Fredonia Co-op. He was also an avid fisherman and also loved to travel. He is survived by his wife Rose of Port Washington, 7 children; Robert (Margie) of Fredonia, Joanne (Alan) Prom of West Bend, Shirley Lallensack of Milwaukee, Richard (the late Theresa) of Grafton, Gary (Jill) of Appleton, Connie (Kevin) Kirst of Neenah, and Harold (Elaine) of Fredonia. He is further survived by 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers Victor (Angie) and George (Lucille) both of Manitowoc, 1 sister Beatrice Lallensack of Manitowoc, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandson Ryan Kirst, daughter-in-law Theresa Lallensack, 2 brothers and 3 sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 7 PM November 11, 2002 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 6092 Lake Church Road, Belgium with Father James Ernster officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation at the CHURCH Monday from 3:30 PM until 7:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to St. Mary’s Catholic School.

EUNICE J. BARTELT

Eunice Bartelt, age 77 years of 907 W. Grand Ave., , Port Washington died Tuesday, April 8, 2003 at Columbia St. Mary’s, Ozaukee Campus in Mequon. of an apparent heart attack. She was born September 16, 1925 in Port Washington, daughter of the late Leon and Mildred VanPrice DeBroux. On October 5, 1973 she married Herbert Bartelt at Friedens Evangelical Church in Port Washington. She was a member of Friedens Evangelical Church, the Womens Ministries at Friedens Church, the Royal Neighbors of America Camp #8373 and was a volunteer at Cedar Lake Campus in West Bend. She is survived by her husband Herbert, 5 children David Dohrwardt of Milwaukee, Donald (Lisa) Dohrwardt of Fredonia, Dollie (Todd) Mullins of Keensburg, IL, Darlene (Kenneth) Harvey of Plymouth and Darrell (Debra) Dohrwardt of Saukville, 2 stepsons Robert (Barb) Bartelt of Port Washington and Ronald (Lauren) Bartelt of Saukville, 24 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 2 brothers Norbert (Arla) and Jerold DeBroux of Port Washington and 1 sister Marjorie (LeRoy) Thielke of Saukville. She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 11, 1 pm at Friedens Evangelical Church, 454 N. Milwaukee St., Port Washington with Pastor Mark Voll officiating. Burial will be in Union cemetery, Port Washington. Visitation will be at the CHURCH Friday after 11 am. A memorial fund has been established in her name for Friedens Church. The Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington is assisting with arrangements.

Gary W. Stevens

Gary W. Stevens age 55 of Cedar Grove, formerly from the Chicago area died Monday, December 30, 2002 at his residence.
He was born October 1, 1947, in Chicago, the son of Irene(Lovendahl) and the late Willard Stevens.
He served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1969 in the Republic of Vietnam.
On January 30, 1971, he married Ruth Meyer at Park Ridge Bible Church in Park Ridge, IL.
Mr. Stevens was employed at Nemschoff Chairs Inc. In Sheboygan, WI as an accountant.
He loved camping and boating with his family in Door County. He also enjoyed living in the country and caring for his horses, dogs, and cats. He was often seen walking tot he barn with one of his cats on his shoulder.
Prior to living in Wisconsin, he resided in Rockwall, Texas and Colorado Springs, CO, and was employed with mission organization. He spent this time helping to raise funds to build churched in Latin America and manage the funds of many overseas missionaries. He was loved and respected by missionaries all over the world. After moving to Wisconsin he attended Open Door Bible Church in Port Washington, and he enjoyed volunteering his time and talents at Camp Awana. He was a quiet man who humbly served the Lord.
He is survived by his wife Ruthie; two daughters Stacie (Carl) Seelye of Colorado Springs, CO and Krissy (Kurt) Halvorsen of Bensenville, IL; one grandson Bryce Halvorson; his mother Irene Stevens of LaHabra, CA; two sisters Judi (David) Slepyan of Langley, WA and Gayle (John) Rogers of LaHabra, Heights, CA; several brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A visitation and funeral service were held on Thursday, January 2 at the Eernisse Funeral Home in Belgium, WI and also on Friday January 3 4-9 PM at the Kolssak Funeral Home in Wheeling, IL. Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 4, 11 AM at Kolssak Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Park, Northlake, IL.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Camp Awana, 3589 N. Central Ave. Chicago, IL 60634.
His sister described him best saying "You’ve always been your own unique self, consistent and without apology."

SEAN NICHOLAS ANZIA

Sean Nicholas Anzia, dear son of Greg and Kathleen Navis Anzia, 413 Michael St., Belgium, was stillborn at Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center on January 4, 2003.
Sean is survived by his parents, 1 brother Benjamin Anzia of Belgium, Grandparents Wayne and Nancy Navis of Cedar Grove, Leon and Diane Anzia of Belgium, Great-grandparents George and Olive Navis of Cedar Grove, Melvin and June Claerbaut of Oostburg, Roy and Elizabeth Keller of Belgium and Dolores Kultgen, also of Belgium. He is further survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his Great-grandfather, Harvey Anzia. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2003, 1PM at Eernisse Funeral Home, 171 N. Royal Ave. (Hwy LL and Park St.), Belgium. Fr. Jim Vojtik will officiate.
Interment will be in St. Mary cemetery, Lake Church. The family will receive visitors at the Funeral Home Wednesday from 11AM until the time of service.
