MILDRED I. BIRKHOLZ

Mrs. Mildred Birkholz, of the Beechwood Rest Home, passed away Tuesday morning, December 16, 2003. She was 94 years old. Millie was born July 21, 1909 in Port Washington, daughter of William and Emma Wilde Schultz. She was united in marriage with Henry Birkholz on October 28, 1927 at St. Martin UCC in Fillmore. He preceded her in death in 1967. Mildred worked at Krier Preserving and then Allen Edmonds Shoe Factory, where she retired as an Inspector in 1974. She was a member at St. John’s UCC in Random Lake, enjoyed flowers and gardening, and did fancy embroidery work. Mrs. Birkholz is survived by her daughter, Pearl (the late Albert) Goschey of Random Lake, 2 grandchildren, Dale (Diane) Goschey of Silver Creek and Lori (Jack) Ploof of Random Lake, 6 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, 2 brothers and 1 sister. Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 19, 2003, 7PM at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 98 Random Lake Rd., in Random Lake. Pastor Earl Kruse will officiate. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in St. Paul cemetery in Waubeka. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH Friday evening from4-7PM. Memorials to the church are suggested. Eernisse Funeral home is assisting the family.

DAVID R. KRUEGER

Mr. David Krueger, formerly of Cedarburg and Gordon, passed away at Cedar Community in West Bend Monday evening, December 15, 2003. He was 77 years old. David was born in Cedarburg on April 8, 1926, son of Allen and Verna Staeven Krueger. He served with the US Army in Korea, and was united in marriage with Delores Hillmann on May 17, 1952 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg. Mr. Krueger operated Cedar Oil in Cedarburg until 1976 when the family moved to Gordon, WI and David became a Petroleum Inspector for the State of Wisconsin. He retired after 16 years, in 1992. In 1998 the couple moved to the West Bend area. Mr. Krueger was a member at St. Luke Lutheran Church, where he sang in the choir. He was also a member of the American Legion, Post # 499 and was a member of Alte Kameraden for more than 50 years. He is survived by his wife Delores of West Bend, 1 daughter, Rachel (Kenneth) Grasse of Colgate, 1 son, Andrew (Karen) Krueger of Belgium, 4 sisters: Nancy Lange of Cedarburg, Marlene (Rev. Paul) Baehmann of Marthasville, MO, Carol (Frank) Runkel of Grafton and Mary (Doug) Anderle of Adell and 1 brother, Daniel Krueger of Plymouth. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by 1 infant daughter, Susan. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, December 19, 2003 5PM at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 4860 Arthur Road, Slinger. Pastor Rick Lawrence will officiate. Burial of cremains will be in Immanuel cemetery, Cedarburg. A Gathering of Remembrance will take place before the service, Friday 3-5PM at the Church. Memorials are suggested. The Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington, is assisting the family.

ARTHUR R. STEINERT “Ted”

Mr. Ted Steinert, of Park Street in Belgium, passed away at his residence Monday afternoon, December 15, 2003. He was 85 years old. Ted was born in Wauwatosa on May 25, 1918, son of Emil and Emma Wilke Steinert. He was employed as a truck driver, delivering gasoline for Sinclair / Atlantic Richfield Co. On June 29, 1940 he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Dean in Milwaukee. The couple lived in Milwaukee before building a house in Mequon. They later moved to the Port Washington area and settled in Belgium in 1998. Mary Ann preceded him in death in 2001. Ted was known for his love of tinkering. He spent much time with his grandchildren and great-grandkids. Mr. Steinert is survived by his 5 children: Mary (Jeffrey) Mathieus of Berlin, Stephen (Pat) of Steinert of Howards Grove, Joseph (Rosie) Steinert, James (Wendy) Steinert, both of Port Washington and John Steinert of Saukville. He is further survived by 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters-in-law, Rose Dean of Hartland and Jody Steinert of Hobbs, NM, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, 2 daughters, Jane McAlpin and Sarah Kissinger, 1 sister Ruth Marie, and 3 brothers: Allen, Carl and Earl. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 18, 10:30AM at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 171 N. Royal Ave., Belgium. Father James Vojtik will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Mary cemetery, Lake Church. The family will receive visitors at the Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 4-8PM and again Thursday morning from 9:30-10:30 AM.

Gulan, Bonnie M.

The world has lost a very special person when Bonnie (the Story Lady) went to be at Home with Jesus on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003 at the age of 81, after a short illness. A loving mother, wife, accomplished author, songwriter, inventress and creator/originator of the famous Christmas Tree Story House Museum, she was recently inducted into “Who’s Who In America, The World, and Among Women In America”. Bonnie was loved by all. Above all of her accomplishments, though, was her search for the Truth and the Love of Jesus. She instilled her faith and love of our Savior in all she came in contact with and will always be remembered for. Bonnie, of Saukville, WI, was adopted (born) in Kenosha, WI on February 27, 1922 to Liz and Matt Thomas, who gave her insight into many things in her life that made her a strong and loving woman. She has now joined her husband Ed, sons John and David, and many dear friends and relatives in her Heavenly Home. Bonnie is survived by her sons Mike and Bob, daughter Kathy, God daughter Chrissy, Granddaughter Pammy, and many loving friends and relatives. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2003, 2PM at Union cemetery in Saukville. Bonnie was a Miracle and inspiration to many people, but most of all to her loving family. For as her poem/song MIRACLES states: MIRACLES ARE MIRACLES TO SHOW US GOD’S LOVE. Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington is assisting the family.

OTTILIA A. MUELLER “Tillie”

Mrs. Tillie Mueller, of South Milwaukee St., Fredonia, passed away in the late evening on Saturday, December 13, 2003. She was 82 years old. Tillie was born on June 22, 1921, in St. Michael’s, WI, daughter of John and Margaret Schneider Schladweiler. On February 16, 1944 she was united in marriage to Norbert Mueller at St. Michael’s Church. The couple moved to the Fredonia area in the 1950’s. He preceded her in death in 1988. Tillie was a homemaker who shared much of her knowledge with the children she worked with as a 4H Leader for 25 years. She was a member of Holy Rosary Parish, St. Rose Chapel in Fredonia, the American Legion Post 410 Auxiliary and enjoyed playing the stumpfiddle, piano and accordion. She is survived by her six children: Ronald (Jane) of West Bend, Francis (Sandra) of Adell, John of Cascade, Raymond (Jean) of Silver Creek, Mary Mueller of Cedarburg and Patricia Mueller of Fredonia, 8 grandchildren: Lisa, Stacy, Colleen, Amy, Daniel, Shawn, Aaron and Shannon, 4 great-grandchildren, 1 sister-in-law, Margaret Schladweiler of Beechwood, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband and 5 brothers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, December 17, 2003, 7PM, at Holy Rosary Parish, St. Rose Chapel, Fredonia. Father Dick Fleischmann will officiate. Interment will take place in the parish cemetery. The family will receive visitors Wednesday at the CHURCH from3:30 -7PM. Memorials are suggested to the charity of your choice.

Robert D. Peterson

Bob Peterson of 6th St. in Oostburg, formerly of Port Washington, passed away at Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center Saturday morning, December 13, 2003. He was 76 years old. Bob was born in Elk Mound, WI on March 31, 1927, son of Alfred and Cora Blodgett Peterson. He joined the Navy after he graduated from high school and served until 1946. On June 18, 1950, he was united in marriage with Lita Karns in Menomonie, WI. Bob served as the principal at Dunwiddie Elementary School in Port Washington from 1963 until it closed in 1980, then served as the principal at Saukville Elementary until his retirement in 1985. Mr. Peterson was very active in the community. He had been a charter member of SPEBQSA, a member of Alpha Phi Omega, sat on the Manitou Girl Scout Council, belonged to the Kiwanis, the Library Board, the Port Washington Senior Center, and was a long –time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where he served as the Chairman of the Congregation and sang in the Choir. Presently, he was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls. Robert is survived by his loving wife Lita, of Oostburg, 2 daughters, Cindy (Steve) Ehlers of Cedarburg and Pamela (James) Keller of Saukville, 1 son, James (Brenda) Peterson of Port Washington, 6 grandchildren: Andrew & Peter Ehlers of Cedarburg, Amy & Julie Keller of Saukville and Sara & Amy Karcher of Port Washington. He is further survived by 1 brother, Jerome (Carol) Peterson of Onstead, MI, 1 sister, Eunice Gavin of Eau Claire, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 3, 2004, 10:30 AM at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls. Pastors Elizabeth Jager and Edgar Greve will officiate. The family will receive friends at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington, on Friday, January 2, 2004, from 4-7PM. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society or St. Luke Lutheran Church.

Morauski, Esther A.

(nee Clausing) SAUKVILLE November 30, 2003 age 100 years. Beloved wife of the late Joseph. Loving mother of Robert (Lois), Willard (Janice), Marjorie (Lee) King, Marilyn (Ray) Stayer and Dorothy (Edward) Friede and Carol (Norman) Philipps. Further survived by 24 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, 2 brothers, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services Thursday Dec. 4, 1 PM at Grand Ave. United Methodist Church Port Washington. Interment Union cemetery Port Washington. Visitation at the CHURCH Thursday 11-1 PM.

Helmut G. Haak

Mr. Helmut Haak age 81 of Saukville, passed away on Wednesday November 26, 2003 at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee Campus in Mequon. Mr Haak was born in Breslau, Germany on March 3, 1922 son of the late Friedrich Haak and Ida Günther Haak. On September 3, 1949 he married Marianne Seidel in Schöneck, Germany. Helmut was a master plumber, and together with his partner Ron Dimmer he started Saukville Plumbing. Helmut retired from the business in 1987. He was a member of Friedens Evangelical Church in Port Washington, and also enjoyed golfing, sports, especially soccer, and traveling. Mr. Haak went on an annual trip to Germany to visit his family. He is survived by his wife Marianne of Saukville, sons Dr. Michael (Maureen) Haak of Evanston, IL and Steve Haak of Saukville, 3 grandsons Josef, Nik and Kristoph Haak, one sister Trude Kowalcyk of Berlin, Germany, 1 sister-in-law Dr. med. Hildegard Liebold of Markneukirschen, Germany, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held on Sunday November 30, 2003 5 PM at Friedens Evangelical Church 454 N. Milwaukee St. Port Washington. Visitation will be at the church Sunday from 3-5 PM. Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Friedens Church suggested.

Sharon A. Keller

Mrs. Sharon Keller of Garfield Ct., Cedarburg passed away unexpectedly at her residence on Tuesday evening, November 25, 2003. She was 67 years old. Sharon was born in Milwaukee, daughter of George and Lorraine (Parlow) Johnson on March 13, 1936. On August 27, 1955, she was united in marriage to Ramon R. Keller at St. Peter’s UCC in Saukville. Sharon worked at Freeman Chemical in Port Washington, and most recently at Energenecs in Cedarburg, retiring in December, 2001. She operated the Clocktower Restaurant in Stonecroft Village of Grafton in the mid to late-80’s. She enjoyed participating in the Lakeside Community Theater productions. She truly enjoyed her retirement so she could spend more time with her children, and especially her grandchildren. She went to their sporting events, and loved watching them play football. She also cherished the memories of her most recent family vacations to Mexico and Jamaica. Her favorite hobbies were swimming, shopping and cooking. She is survived by her loving companion and best friend, Ramon R. Keller (Cedarburg), dearest mother of Chris (Jolie) Keller of Mequon, Keri (Leonard) Fleischmann of Lake Church, Holly (Ray) Boehlke of Cedarburg, Todd (Mary Jane) Keller of Arbor Vitae and Jill (Jeff) Fleischmann of Saukville. She is further survived by her 12 grandchildren, Anna, Eric, Joseph, Amanda, Joshua, Lennie, Jason, Alycia (AJ), Amanda Jo, Ryan and Brandon, and one great-granddaughter Olivia, two brothers Thomas (Patricia) of Mequon and Lee (Karen) of Neshkoro, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Justin Boehlke. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 1, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Avenue, Port Washington, WI. The family will receive visitors from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.

ADELA M. ANZIA

Mrs. Adela Anzia, of South Ave. in Belgium, died peacefully Friday morning, November 21, 2003 at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan. She was 92 years old. Adela was born November 17, 1911 in the Village of Belgium, daughter of John B. and Catherine Mueller Watry. She was united in marriage with Victor Anzia on February 5, 1938 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Lake Church. He preceded her in death last year. Adela worked as an eyelet installer at Allen- Edmonds in Belgium, retiring in 1965. Mrs. Anzia was a life long member of St. Mary Lake Church, the Christian Ladies Guild and the Catholic Knights. She enjoyed quilting, crossword puzzles, crafts, baking and canning the produce that came from her husband’s garden. She is survived by her four children, Kathryn (Robert) Richison of Athelstane, Michael (Sandra) Anzia of West Bend, Barbara (Richard) Wright of Medford and Paul (Judith) Anzia of Belgium, 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by 1 sister, Anna Krier of Belgium, 1 sister-in-law, Betty Watry of Huntley, IL, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by husband, Victor, 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 25, 10AM from the Funeral Home going to St. Mary Lake Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Father James Vojtek will officiate. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the parish cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 171 N. Royal Ave. (Hwy LL and Park St.) Belgium, Monday 4-8PM and Tuesday 9-10AM. There will be a vigil service Monday evening at 7:30 PM.

Kelly S. Sullivan

Ms. Kelly Sullivan, of Hillcrest Rd. in Saukville, died unexpectedly at St. LukesMedical Center in Milwaukee Wednesday evening, November 19, 2003 She was 33 years old. Kelly was born September 13, 1970 in Port Washington, daughter of Harry and Joanne Roob Mayer. She attended and graduated from Port Washington High School, Class of 1989. On March 16, 1996 she married Mike Sullivan at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Port Washington. Most recently, Ms. Sullivan had worked at Calibre, Inc. in Grafton She enjoyed reading, movies, talking on the phone and collecting Precious Moments pieces. She is survived by her parents, Harry and Joanne Mayer, of Las Vegas, NV, 1 sister, Tracy (Ron Machaj) Mayer of Janesville, 1 brother, Scott (Ann Marie) Mayer of Madison, husband Michael of West Bend, and special friend Cory Gierach of Saukville. She is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 21, 2003 7PM at Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington. Father James Ernster will officiate. Burial will take pace in the St. Mary cemetery, Port Washington. Visitation will take place Friday, Nov. 21, 5-7 PM at the Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
