EGLON, W.Va. - Charles Richard Lipscomb, 89, of Eglon, passed away Nov. 23, 1998, at Cortland Acres Nursing Home, Thomas.
He was born July 7, 1909, in Aurora, a son of the late Thomas A. and Etta Bolyard Lipscomb.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lona S. Lipscomb, on June 10, 1998.
They were married
on May 2, 1930, at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, Oakland, Md.
Four brothers, Bob, Homer, George and Roy; and two sisters, Della Simms and Daisy Shillingburg preceded him in death.
Survivors include four sons, Lourain Harold Lipscomb, Winchester, Va., Edward Norman Lipscomb, Eglon, Gerald Bradley Lipscomb, Horse Shoe Run, Tommy Bernard Lipscomb, Charles Town; one daughter, Mrs. Lewis Kay (Dora Etta) Vincent, Bruceton Mills; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mr. Lipscomb was a retired carpender and farmer, and he was a Protestant by faith.
Friends will be received at the Hinkle Funeral Home, Davis, on Wednesday, Nov. 25, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
On Thursday, Nov. 26, the body will be moved to St. Johns Lutheran Church at Red House, Md., to lie in state from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m., the funeral service hour. The Rev. Bill Connelly and the Rev. Dave Parker will officiate.

EGLON, W.Va. - Lona Sarah Lipscomb, 91, of Eglon, died Wednesday, June 10, 1998, at her residence.
Born Jan. 5, 1907, in Erwin, she was a daughter of the late George Luther and Dora Idella (Sanders) Bolyard.
She married
Charles Richard Lipscomb on May 2, 1930 at St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Oakland, Md., by the Rev. Walter B. Brock.
They purchased the Fred Slaubaugh farm at Eglon on Dec. 31, 1937, where Lona resided until her death.
Her husband has been a patient in Cortland Acres Nursing Home since May 24, 1989.
Survivors include four sons, Lourain Harold Lipscomb, Winchester, Va., Edward Norman Lipscomb, Eglon, Gerald Bradley Lipscomb, Horse Shoe Run, and Tommy Bernard Lipscomb, Charles Town; one daughter, Mrs. Lewis Kay (Dora Etta) Vincent, Bruceton Mills; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a half sister, Margie Durr Rotrick of Lilly, Ga.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Isiah, Dayton, Eli and Clay Bolyard; two sisters, Edith Bolyard and Eva Brantner; a half brother, Willis Durr; and a half sister, Mina Durr Lipscomb.
Mrs. Lipscomb was a housewife and a member of the Red House Ladies Circle, the Old Gnegy Church, Red House Lutheran Church, Mountain Lake Baptist and attended the Maple Grove Assembly of God Church.
Friends will be received at the Hinkle Funeral Home, Davis, on Thursday, June 11, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the Red House Lutheran Church on Friday, June 12, 1998 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Dave Parker and the Rev. Bill Connelly officiating.
FORT ASHBY, W.Va. - Elizabeth Frances (Pettie) Llewellyn, 85, a resident of Dawnview Nursing Home, Fort Ashby, formerly of Short Gap, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 28, 1998.
She was born on Sept. 12, 1912, in Cumberland, Md., the daughter of the late Enoch M. Pettie and Dollie Grace (Stalnaker) Pettie.
She also was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence E. Llewellyn, who died on Oct. 10, 1995.
A sister, Virginia L. Frantz; and brother, Charles E. Pettie, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Llewellyn was employed at Celanese Corporation, Cumberland, for 20 years and Rex News Agency for 11 years.
She was a member of Kingsley United Methodist Church, a member of the senior choir, the Faithful Workers Bible Class, the Senior Citizens of Short Gap, and the Short Gap "Take It Off" Weight Loss Club.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving are two sons, David E. Llewellyn and Robert Llewellyn, address unknown; one granddaughter, Sheann Leigh Llewellyn, Parkersburg, W.Va.; a special nephew and niece, Alfred "Sonny" Frantz and Clara M. Frantz; and a number of other nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Kight Funeral Home, 309-311 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard Jewell and the Rev. Donald Llewellyn officiating.
CUMBERLAND - Betty J. (Eaton) Lloyd, 54, of Offutt Street, Cumberland, died Tuesday, May 19, 1998, in Short Gap, W.Va., at the home of her friend Sue.
Born Oct. 27, 1943, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Eaton and Bertha (Hite) Eaton.
She also was preceded in death by one brother, Cubby Eaton; and one sister, Mary Dentinger.
Mrs. Lloyd was a homemaker. She was a member of the New Beginnings Church of God and the Short Gap Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are her husband, William M. Lloyd; one son, William Joseph Lloyd and wife Victoria, Baltimore; two daughters, Linda J. Mallow and husband Clark, Stafford, Va., and Loretta L. Walk and husband Douglas, Baltimore; two brothers, Eugene Eaton and wife Diane, Cumberland, and Charles Eaton and wife Kaye, Baltimore; one sister, Lillian Grabenstein and husband John, Baltimore; 14 grandchildren, Daniel Stewart Jr., William Stewart, Honey McFadden, Samantha McFadden, Jacob McFadden, Brittany Lloyd, Alexus Lloyd, Nathan Walk, Destiny Walk, Dakota Walk, Stepahnie Wright, Robert Main, Kyle Yershefsky and Kristy Yershefsky; and beloved friends Sue and husband Paul.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Price officiating.
She was the daughter of the late John Cheshire and Elsie (Riggleman) Cheshire.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Lochner; one son, William Shoop; one daughter, Janet Thrasher; one brother, John Cheshire; and one sister, Stella Calvert.
She was retired as a nursing assistant at Potomac Valley Hospital and Heartland Nursing Home, Keyser.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Keyser.
She is survivved by two daughters, Mrs. Betty Bane, Piedmont, and Virginia Smith, Washington, D.C.; three sisters, Hilda Taylor, Keyser, Mary Francis Butler, Westernport, and Mildred Fleck, Frostburg; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Fredlock Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Homer L. Beeman officiating.
