NORMA JEAN SWEITZER
WILEY FORD, W.Va. - Norma Jean (Wilkes) Sweitzer, 72, of Wiley Ford, died Monday, Oct. 6, 1997 at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born April 15, 1925 in Barton, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Bessy (Dunn) Wilkes.
She also was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Sweitzer; and one sister, Kathryn Volk.
Mrs. Sweitzer was a member of Graceland Baptist Church; Ladies Auxiliary of the F.O.E., Aerie #245; and Pocahontas, O.R.M.
Survivors include two daughters, Georgia Anne Jenkins and husband, Kip, Wiley Ford, and Jeannine Wilt, McCoole; two sons, Thomas James and wife Linda, Barton, and Mike Sweitzer, Cumberland; one step-daughter, Patty Detrick and husband, Keith, Ridgeley; one sister, Alice Wills and husband, Harold, Rawlings; one brother, Billie Wilkes, Essex; six grandchildren, Paul, Donna, Lori, Aaron, Heather, and Patty; three step-grandchildren, Keith, Brian, and Kim; six great-grandchildren, Kayla, Kelsey, Christian, Shana, Dusty, and Mathew; six step-great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Ashley, Tyler, Chase, Abby, and Nichole; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the George-Upchurch Funeral Home, 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Homer Beeman officiating.
MILDRED T. SANDERS
KEYSER, W.Va. - Mildred (Umstot) Thompson Sanders, 92, of 18 Orchard St., Keyser, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997, at the Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home, Keyser.
Born on Oct. 14, 1905, in Mineral County, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Newton and Bell (Arnold) Umstot. Twice married
, she was preceded in death by both husbands, Henry S. Thompson in 1939, and J. Morris Sanders on Feb. 2, 1992.
Mrs. Sanders was a retired home economics teacher with the Mineral County School System with 27 years of service. She was a graduate of Keyser High School, Potomac State College and James Madison College.
Mrs. Sanders was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church and the Semper Fidelis Sunday School Class. She was a 50-year member and past Worthy Matron of Alkire Chapter #10, Order of the Eastern Star; Retired Employees of the Mineral County Board of Education, the American Association of University Women, Delta Kappa Gamma International; and she was a life member of the Potomac State College Alumni Association. She also was a member of the Keyser Women's Club, an honorary member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Alpha Omicron Chapter, the 4-H All Stars and the A.A.R.P.
She is survived by two stepsons, James M. Sanders Jr., Quincy, Pa., and William Clark Sanders, Myerstown, Pa.; five step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Donald D. Coleman officiating.
Alkire Chapter #10, O.E.S. will conduct a memorial service on Friday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

CLETA SAVILLE
MOOREFIELD, W.Va. - Cleta (Hiser) Saville, 84, of 139 S. Elm St., Moorefield, passed away Monday, Aug. 4, 1997, at the Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg.
Born Nov. 5, 1912, in Laneville, she was the daughter of the late James Abraham Garfield Hiser and Annie (Huffman) Hiser. She also was preceded in death by her husband Halbert J. "Peck" Saville, on Jan. 8, 1991; one son; and one brother.
Mrs. Saville was a member of the Duffey Memorial United Methodist Church, the Moorefield Women's Club and the Homemaker's Club. She was the former owner of the Airport Inn, which later became the Caledonia Club. Mrs. Saville also served on the Moorefield Town Council and Planning and Zoning Commission.
Surviving are one daughter, Maxine Wratchford, Moorefield; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren; one niece; and one nephew.
Friends can call anytime at the Elmore Funeral Home, Moorefield, on Wednesday after 8 a.m. Friends will be received by the family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Pastor Ted Osgood officiating.

LOUIE T. SCHOPPERT
PIEDMONT, W.Va. - Louie T. "Dink" Schoppert, 72, of 39 E. Harrison St., Piedmont, died on Thursday, Sept. 11, 1997, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.
Born Dec. 20, 1924, in Piedmont, he was the son of the late Louie N. Schoppert and Marie (Coleman) Schoppert. He also was preceded in death by one brother; two sisters; and one great-grandson, Nicholas John Grady.
Mr. Schoppert was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Westernport. He was a life member of Tri-Towns Rescue Squad, driver for the Tri-County Ambulance and also for Valley Medical Transport. He was a member of the Tri-Towns Fire Company No. 1, Piedmont. He belonged to the Blue Angel Drum and Bugle Corps, and was a forest fire warden for the Department of Natural Resources. Mr. Schoppert retired from Westvaco with 40 years of service in January, 1991. He was an avid hunter and woodworker. Mr. Schoppert devoted his life to helping others.
Mr. Schoppert was a loving and caring husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Norma (Bray) Schoppert; one son, Louie R. Schoppert and wife Carolyn Campbell, Keyser; four daughters, Janice Raye and husband Paul, Piedmont, Sue Grady and husband Rodger, Capon Bridge, Jeanne Thrasher and husband Steven, Piedmont, and Lisa Broadwater and husband Gary, Westernport; six grandchildren, Robert C. Grady, Rodger Allen Grady Jr., Chris Raye, Kristina Raye, Steven Thrasher, and Shawn Thrasher; and four great-grandchildren, Benjamin Tad Grady, Zakkery Sebastian Grady, Whitney Rochelle Grady, and Tristin Allen Grady.
Friends may call at the Fredlock Funeral Home, Piedmont, on Saturday and Sunday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont, on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Madeline Davis officiating.

JOHN V. SEARS SR.
PIEDMONT, W.Va. - John V. "Jack" Sears Sr., 72, of 34 East Fairview St., Piedmont, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born Aug. 25, 1925, in Maysville, he was the son of the late John W. Sears and Bertha J. (Townsend) Sears.
Mr. Sears attended Petersburg High School and was an honors graduate from the International Papermakers Correspondence School. He retired from Westvaco Corporation in January, 1988, with over 43 years of service. He worked in the tech service and quality control departments.
Mr. Sears also was the owner of the Piedmont Sports Shop and was involved with the family business at the Tri-Towns Variety Store and the Sound Gallery in Piedmont and Altoona, Pa. He was a member of Piedmont Presbyterian Church, Luke Local 676 UPIU and various other local organizations.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Mary Elizabeth (Farris) Sears; one son, John V. "Jack" Sears Jr. and wife Denise, Westernport, Md.; two grandchildren, Pamela Sue and Jennifer Elizabeth Sears, Westernport; two sisters, Phyllis Nesselrodt, Maysville, and Lucille John and husband Clair, Swissvale, Pa.; one brother, William Sears and wife Doris, Hamilton, Mont.; a very special aunt, Alice Sears, Petersburg; five nieces; and four nephews.
Friends will be received at the Fredlock Funeral Home, Piedmont, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont, on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Christopher Crawford officiating.
Interment will follow in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.

NELLIE SEE
MOOREFIELD, W.Va. - Nellie See, 82, of Moorefield, died Sunday Dec. 7, 1997, at the E.A. Hawse Continuous Care Center in Baker, W.Va.
Born July 27, 1915, in Grant County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Martin E. and Cora B. (Dayton) Goldizen. She is preceded in death by one daughter; two sisters; one brother; and a half-brother.
Surviving are her husband, Conway See, of Moorefield; one daughter, Alice Eye, Moorefield; one brother, Tom Goldizen, Petersburg, W.Va.; a half-brother, Martin Junior Goldizen, Jordan Run, W.Va.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997, at 11 a.m. at the Fraley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Lynn Rohrbaugh and the Rev. Sam Goldizen officiating. Burial will follow at the Olivet cemetery in Moorefield. Friends may call Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Mrs. See was a member of the Rig Christian Church, Rig, W.Va., and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Memorials may be made to the Rig Christian Church of Rig.
Pallbearers will be Reuben Smith, Joe Smith, Roger Champ, Clyde See, Jim Barr, Tom Kuykendall, Pete Goldizen, and Leonard Martin.
