MARY G. HAMILTON
ROMNEY, W.Va. - Mary Gerlach Hamilton, 86, of HC 65, Romney, died Thursday, April 10, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born May 7, 1910, at Junction, she was a daughter of the late Mory Lee Charlton and Cora Ellen (Biser) Charlton.
Mrs. Hamilton was a member of the Beaver Run Church of the Brethren. She retired from Kelly Springfield Tire Co. in 1960 after 33 years of service.
Surviving are two daughters, Betty Gerlach Flanagan, Romney, and Helene Beatty, Fort Ashby; one brother, James Charlton, Burlington; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Miller Funeral Home, 115 E. Birch Lane, Romney, anytime after 2 p.m. on Saturday, and the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Beaver Run Church of the Brethren on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Preston Miller and the Rev. Burl Charlton officiating.
The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.
NELLIE E. HAMMOND
RIDGELEY, W.Va. - Nellie Elizabeth "Libby" Hammond, 84, of Ridgeley, died Saturday, March 15, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Dec. 1, 1912, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Paul and Mary (Weller) Aaron. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Leon C. Hammond.
Mrs. Hammond was a 1930 graduate of Allegany High School. She and her husband owned and operated Leon C. Hammond Insurance. She also was a home economist for the West Virginia University Home Extension Office.
Mrs. Hammond was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, where she had served as organist. She was one of the founding members of the Ridgeley Senior Citizens.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Kay McLane, Camp Hill, Pa.; one son, Leon R. Hammond, Tampa, Fla.; one brother, Richard C. Aaron, Cumberland; four grandchildren, Meghan E. McLane and Kendall A. McLane, both of Camp Hill, Paul Hammond, Tampa, and Jill Hammond, Austin, Texas; and one niece, Lucille Cessna, Wilmington, Del.
Visitation will be at the George-Upchurch Funeral Home, 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park on Tuesday, March 18, 1997, at 9:30 a.m.
A memorial service will follow at Calvary United Methodist Church, Ridgeley, on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robert E. Cook officiating.

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Robert Paul Harden, 66, of Berkeley Springs, died Monday at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs.
Friends will be received at the Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral home will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday for the convenience of friends.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Henry L. Fisher officiating.
Interment, with military graveside honors provided by the Tri-State Honor Guard, will be in the Harden Family cemetery, New Hope.
SEDRICK F. HARDY JR.
TRUE, W.Va. - Sedrick F. "Sid" Hardy Jr., 52, a resident of True for the past year, formerly of Cumberland, Md., formerly of the Shenandoah Valley, Va., died Tuesday, March 25, 1997, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Beckley, following a long illness.
Born March 7, 1945, in Cumberland, Md., he was a son of the late Sedrick F. and Kathrine (Smith) Hardy Sr.
Mr. Hardy was an employee of the Conservation Center, Front Royal, Va., a division of the Smithsonian Institute, Washington, D.C. He was a sergeant first class in the U.S. Marine Corps, and a veteran of the Vietnam War. He attended the James Chapel United Methodist Church, True.
Surviving are his wife, Charlene (Edwards) Hardy, at home; one son, Erin Hardy, Moorefield; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Maxine Smith, Clarysville, Md.; two stepsons, Justin Williams, Winchester, Va., and Joshua Williams, at home; one stepdaughter, Melinda Williams, at home; three sisters, Cindy Palmer, Hermitage, Pa., Kathy Marinelli and husband Bill, Orlando, Fla., and Mary Altizer, San Jose, Calif.; one brother, Lynn Hardy, Cumberland, Md.,; two stepgranddaughters, Krissy and Heather Hudgins, Moorefield; father and mother-in-law, Arthur and Violet Edwards, True; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlor, Hinton, Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Services will be held at the James Chapel United Methodist Church, True, Friday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Robert Holcomb officiating.
Pallbearers will be Michael Kesner, Rex Marcum, Arthur Allen Collier, John, Phillip, and Gary Edwards.
Summers County National Guard will conduct military graveside rites.
BIRCH A. HARE SR.
ELKINS, W.Va. - Birch A. Hare Sr., 59, of Elkins, died Sunday, March 9, 1997, at the Davis Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Wyona E. Hare; and one daughter, Debbie K. Hare.
Surviving are his father and step-mother, the Rev. and Mrs. Edgar A. Hare, Frostburg; his wife, Shirley Mae Hare, Elkins; one son, Birch A. Hare Jr.; two daughters, Linda Davis and Diana "Dee" Hare, all of Elkins; two brothers, Burton D. Hare, Pasadena, Md., and Keith Hare, Elkins.
Friends will be received at the Elkins Church of God, 14th Street and Taylor Avenue, Elkins, on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Funeral services will be at the church Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Keith Cohen, pastor, Elkins Church of God, and The Rev. Wayne Aaron, youth pastor, officiating.
Tomlin Funeral Home, Elkins, is in charge of the arrangements.
RAYMOND H. JONES
FORT ASHBY, W.Va. - Raymond H. Jones, 75, of Fort Ashby, W.Va., died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997, at his residence.
Born Jan. 29, 1922, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late John D. and Alverna E. (McBride) Jones.
Mr. Jones had served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was retired from the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company, where he had worked in the Shipping Department.
Mr. Jones was a member of the F.O.E., Aerie #245, Cumberland; F.O.E., Aerie #2883, Cresaptown; Cresaptown Hunting Club, Haystack Mountain Hunting Club, Sandy Crossing Hunting Club, and the Piney Mountain Sportsmen Club.
Survivors include two sons, Richard A. Jones and wife, Carol, LaVale, and Jerry J. Jones and wife, Sharon, Woodbine; two daughters, Carol Comer and husband, Randy, Ohio, and Linda Michaels, Fort Ashby; one brother, Harry H. Jones and wife, Mary, Winchester Road, Cumberland; one sister, Wilda E. Walker, Bowling Green; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
