KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. - Cora Elizabeth Jefferson, 91, of Kearneysville, died Saturday, April 22, 2000, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
Born Dec. 28, 1908, in Gormania, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles Wesley and Mollie Belle Harding Elrich.
Her husband, Paul Franklin Jefferson, died July 19, 1978.
She was a graduate of Bayard High School, Bayard, W.Va.
She was employed for many years with U.S. State Department in Washington, D.C.
She was an active member of Middleway United Methodist Church, Middleway, W.Va., where she was a member of Women of the Church.
She is survived by two grandchildren, Rosemary Smith of Virginia Beach, Va., and Paul A. Moyers of LaVale, Md.; three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two nieces and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dolores Gail Sharpless, who died June, 22, 1995; two sisters, Nelle Elrich and Alma Elrich; three brothers, Austin Elrich, Edward Elrich and Wesley Elrich. She was the last of her immediate family.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at Melvin T. Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town, W.Va. The Rev. Patricia Drake will officiate. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in Oakland Memorial Gardens cemetery, Oakland, Md.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

David T. Cavalier
HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - David Taylor Cavalier, 84, of Harpers Ferry, died Friday, April 21, 2000, at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Feb. 22, 1916, in Harpers Ferry, he was the son of the late Kenneth Kemp Sr. and Charlotte Elizabeth Taylor Cavalier.
He retired from the construction industry. He previously owned and operated Cavalier's Meat Market, Harpers Ferry.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was of the Episcopal faith.
He was a former member of VFW Memorial Post 3522, Charles Town, W.Va.; Steadman-Keenan of the American Legion Post 96, Moose Lodge 1582 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie Post 1136, all of Brunswick, Md.
He is survived by a daughter, Diane Lewis of Harpers Ferry; a son, David L. Cavalier of Harpers Ferry; a sister, Nancy Cavalier Perry of Charles Town; two brothers, Frank Schilling Cavalier of Harpers Ferry and Cyrus Wakefield Cavalier of Elkins, W.Va.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Charles Joshua Cavalier; three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Dalgarn, Emily Jane Cavalier and Mildred Gordon Cavalier; and a brother, Kenneth Kemp Cavalier Jr.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Cavalier Farm, Harpers Ferry.
There will be no visitation.

Gunnell H. Porterfield
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Gunnell Hurst Porterfield, 83, of Charles Town, died Monday, April 24, 2000, at Smal's Elder Care Center in Ranson, W.Va.
Born June 8, 1916, in Charles Town, he was the son of the late Philip Terrill and Mollie Thomson Moore Porterfield.
He was preceded in death by two wives, Virginia Saunders Porterfield and Ruth E. Porterfield.
He was a graduate of Charles Town High School.
He retired in 1979 from Southern Specialty Products Co., Richmond, Va. and had been associated with Halltown Paperboard Co., Halltown, W.Va. He previously owned and operated a riding stable in San Diego.
He served in the U.S. Merchant Marine during World War II in the European and Pacific Theaters.
He was a member of Zion Episcopal Church, Charles Town.
He was a member of Henry Kyd Douglas Camp Sons of Confederate Veterans, Pug Dog Club of America, Virginia Kennel Club and he bred and raised champion pug dogs.
He is survived by a sister, Anne Green Saunders of Charles Town; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia P. Williams; and a brother, Philip T. Porterfield Jr.
Memorial graveside services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Zion Episcopal Church, Charles Town. The Rev. Jack Weise will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Episcopal Church Yard cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the home of Anne Green Saunders, 706 Jefferson Ave., Charles Town.

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Ray Glenwood "Razor" Mason, 36, of Berkeley Springs, died Sunday, April 23, 2000, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born June 15, 1963, in Berkeley Springs, he was the son of Glenwood Hamilton and Lelia Louise Miller Mason of Berkeley Springs.
He attended Berkeley Springs High School.
He worked in woodworking with Seely Pine Furniture in Berkeley Springs.
He was of the Methodist faith.
He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1483, Berkeley Springs.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his fiance, Wendy D. Sauer of Berkeley Springs; a son, Jesse Ray Mason of Martinsburg; two stepdaughters, LaRanda Cross and LaShelle Cross, both of Georgia; two stepsons, Richard W. Sauer and Ryan K. Green, both of Berkeley Springs; two sisters, Linda L. Snidermiller and Patsy J. Snow, both of Berkeley Springs; two brothers, David E. Miller of Lancaster, Pa., and Randy L. Mason of Cross Junction, Va.; three nephews; six nieces; aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Oakland Methodist Church, Oakland, W.Va. The Rev. Lynnie Ambrose will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The funeral home will be open from 11 a.m.
Arnold R. Napier
HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Arnold Ray Napier, 50, of Hedgesville, died Monday, April 24, 2000, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Aug. 3, 1949, in Wayne County, W.Va., he was the son of Obie Dial Napier of Hedgesville and the late James Earl Napier.
He was a graduate of Wayne High School.
He was an electrical foreman for the Berkeley County Board of Education.
He was a member of Tomahawk Christian Church.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Debra Nell Napier; a daughter, Barbara Napier, at home; a son, James Napier, at home; five sisters, Barbara Jean Little of Philadelphia, Marcia Young of Pennsylvania, Lillian Walling, Ruby Adkins and Linda Shirley, all of Hedgesville; three brothers, Earl Stanley Napier of Baltimore, Paul Edward Napier and Kenneth Eugene Napier, both of Hedgesville; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, James Hobert Napier.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Tomahawk Christian Church. The Rev. Lee Ashley will officiate. Burial will be in Tomahawk cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the church.
