MORGAN COUNTY, W.Va. - Phyllis Rae Smith, 70, of Morgan County, died Saturday, May 1, 1999, at her home.
Born Jan. 23, 1929, in Sioux City, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Ethel Anderson Wells.
She was a graduate of Sioux City High School. She played in the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra. She graduated from South Dakota University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi, Sorority and Phi Beta Kappa.
She taught in both private and public schools in Orange, Conn., and she served as PTA president.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, New Haven, Conn.
She was a member of the Garden Club and winner of the Singer Sewing Contest in Connecticut.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond E. Smith Jr.; two daughters, Deborah Lynn Zizzamia of Mount Airy, Md., and Stacy Ann Hodder of Fitzwilliam, N.J.; one son, R. Jeffrey Smith of Simsbury, Conn.; two sisters, Patricia Kirkegaard of Fresno, Calif., and Vernita Luwallen of White Bear Lake, Minn.; and seven grandchildren.

Robert G. Starliper
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Robert G. Starliper, 67, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, May 2, 1999, in Winchester Medical Center.
Born Aug. 23, 1931, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Charles C. and N. Pearl Myers Starliper Boward.
He was employed with Roach Oil Co. at the North-end Texaco.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean Conflict.
He was an active lifelong member of Christ Reformed United Church of Christ where he was a member of Gluck's Mens Bible Class.
He was a past member of Berkeley County Chapter of Izaak Walton League.
He is survived by his wife, Betty J. Mann Starliper; one sister, Virginia Fortney of Martinsburg; one stepsister; two stepbrothers; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, M.J. Grozinger and Dolly L. Massie Fox and one brother, Donald D. Starliper.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Christ Reformed Church. The Rev. Thomas E. Hartshorn will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.

Ruth M. Pratt
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Ruth Martha Pratt, 76, of Charles Town, died Sunday, May 2, 1999, at her home.
Born Nov. 5, 1922, in Lithuania, she was the daughter of the late John and Emma Pelnis Schultz.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Kenneth C. Pratt.
She was the former owner/operator of Sulphur Rock Grocery Store, Sulphur Rock, Ark. She was a cosmetician in New York and proprietor of AKCREST Kennels, New York.
She was of the Christian faith.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna Lee Dom of Charles Town and Debra D. Kaiser of Highland, N.Y.; one son, Kenneth C. Pratt of Charles Town; one brother, Richard A. Schultz of Pomona, Calif., and four grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Edge Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Wyman Hall will officiate.

Destiny M. Willis
INWOOD, W.Va. - Destiny Marie Willis, infant, of Inwood, died Thursday, April 29, 1999, at University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville, Va.
She was the daughter of Michael Wayne and Deanna Toup Willis of Inwood.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandparents, Connie Toup and Dave Toup, both of Martinsburg, W.Va., and her paternal grandparents, Gary and Gloria Willis of Inwood.
Graveside services will be private.
Guilford P. Turner
HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Guilford Perry Turner, 77, of Mannings, Harpers Ferry, died Saturday, May 1, 1999, at Loudoun Hospital Center, Leesburg, Va.
Born May 19, 1921, in Jefferson County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Edward Lee and Margaret Viands Turner.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Elizabeth Turner, who died in 1999.
He had been a self-employed electrical contractor in Jefferson County for many years. Prior to that he was employed with Jefferson County Board of Education and with Martin-Marietta Company, at the Standard Lime-Stone Plant, Millville, W.Va.
He was a member of Bolivar Pentecostal Church, Harpers Ferry and had been a member of the church board.
He had served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by three daughters, Inez Ridgeway, Darlene T. Weister and Trixana T. Carter, all of Harpers Ferry; three sons, B. Guilford Turner of Charles Town, W.Va., Duane L. Turner of Harpers Ferry, and Ronald L. Turner of Halltown, W.Va.; one sister, Gladys Ott of Charles Town; twelve grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Timothy Edward Turner; two sisters, Grace LaRue and Ella Painter and two brothers, Robert Turner and Nelson Turner.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Bolivar Pentecostal Church. His son, the Rev. B. Guilford Turner will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town.
The family will receive friends today and Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town.

Corrine H. Miller
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Corrine Hensley Miller, 78, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, May 1, 1999, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
She was the daughter of Jerry Mack and Bertha Mason Hensley.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, William H. Miller.
She was a 1938 graduate of Martinsburg High School.
She was a homemaker.
She attended Independent Bible Church and was a member of Senior Saints Group.
She is survived by one daughter, Keitha L. LeMaster of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; one son, Thomas C. Miller of Martinsburg; one sister, Madeline Robinson of Hagerstown; one granddaughter, two step-granddaughters, two step-grandchildren; a nephew, Duane Hensley of Marietta, Ga., whom she helped raise; one nephew and one niece and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Ray Hensley.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Independent Bible Church, Hedgesville, W.Va. The Rev. Mark Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at Rosedale Funeral Home, Martinsburg.
