Reuben L. Clatterbuck

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Reuben Lee Clatterbuck, 84, of Berkeley Springs, died Saturday, April 17, 1999, at his home.

Born Nov. 1, 1914, in Warrenton, Va., he was the son of the late Reuben James and Anne Jacobs Clatterbuck.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Esther Mae Hurst Clatterbuck, in 1969.

He attended Madison High School, Falls Church, Va.

He worked as a carpenter in the Northern Virginia area until 1953. He moved to Berkeley Springs in July 1953, and had been a farmer since that time.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He was a member of Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post 60, Berkeley Springs; and Risinger-Stotler VFW Post 4019, Berkeley Springs. He was one of the founders and a charter member of Morgan County Saddle Club. He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1483, Berkeley Springs.

He is survived by his second wife of 18 years, Yvonne Kent Swecker Hovermale Clatterbuck; two sons, Ronald Lee Clatterbuck and William Nelson Clatterbuck, both of Berkeley Springs; three stepdaughters, Venetia A. Holland and Heidi E. Perry, both of Berkeley Springs, Stacy K. Barnes of Cross Junction, Va.; a brother, Gordon Clatterbuck of Woodstock, Va.; three grandchildren; a great-grandson; three stepgrandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Rubie Clatterbuck, Lillian Hoe, Grace Bush, Sarah Millner and an infant sister; and three brothers, William "Bubba" Clatterbuck, Julian Clatterbuck and Jack Clatterbuck.

He was of the Protestant faith.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Stephen J. Cuff will officiate. Burial with graveside military honors by the Tri-State Honor Guard will be in Greenway cemetery, Berkeley Springs.

The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral home will be open today from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. for the convenience of friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Morgan County Saddle Club, c/o Gale Hovermale, Treasurer, 1561 Fairfax St., Berkeley Springs, WV 25411; or Berkeley Springs High School Athletic Department, c/o Wayne Sherrard, Athletic Director, 836 Concord Ave., Berkeley Springs, WV 25411.

Nellie M. Cook

RANSON, W.Va. - Nellie May Cook, 92, of Ranson, died Friday, April 16, 1999, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson.

Born Feb. 5, 1907, in Orange County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Cornelia Brookman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Guy Cook, in 1970.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Charles Town Baptist Church, Charles Town.

She is survived by two sons, Ellis Norman Cook and Wade William Cook, both of Ranson; a sister, Mabel Grove of Ranson; and a grandchild.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, Lonzy Brookman, Jesse Brookman, Juddy Brookman, Cave Brookman and Wade Brookman, who died in infancy; and a half brother, Robert Lloyd.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. Dr. Wyman Hall will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg, W.Va.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Charles Town Baptist Church, 203 East Congress St., Charles Town, WV 25414.

Rebecca C. Skinner

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Rebecca Crabbe "Becky" Skinner, 82, of Shepherdstown, died Friday, April 16, 1999, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.

Born Nov. 4, 1916, in Jefferson County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Reynolds Weston and Rose O. Burns Crabbe.

She had been employed for more than 20 years with Diamonds Smart Fashion Ladies Clothing Store, Charles Town, W.Va.

She was a member of New Street United Methodist Church, Shepherdstown.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Howard T. Skinner Jr.; two daughters, Carol Anne Painter of Stephens City, Va. and Sandra S. Watkins of Shepherdstown; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Albert W. Crabbe.

Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. The Rev. Randall Tremba will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill cemetery, Charles Town.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. before the services at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Shepherdstown Fire Company, P.O. Box F, Shepherdstown, WV 25443.

Margaret F. O'Keeffe

HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Margaret F. O'Keeffe, of Harpers Ferry, died Saturday, April 17, 1999, at Integrated Health Services of West Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew R. O'Keeffe.

Funeral arrangements will be announced on Monday from Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town, W.Va.

Katie K. Zombro

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Katie K. Zombro, 59, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at her sister's home.

Born Feb. 28, 1940, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Dewey Samuel and Lucy Virginia VanMetre Largent Sr.

She was a member of Cedar Grove Christian Church.

She is survived by two sons, Jimmie Mason Jr. and Terry Lee Mason, both of Martinsburg; six daughters, Geraldine Robinson of Ridgeway, W.Va., Priscilla Cline of Hagerstown, Connie May of Williamsburg, Va., Linda Brown of Hedgesville, W.Va., Emily Welch of Bedington, W.Va., and Sandra Zombro of Inwood, W.Va.; five sisters, Wanda Markley, Martha Largent and Juanita Domer, all of Hedgesville, and Wilma Orr and Robin Domer, both of Martinsburg; two brothers, John Carlton Largent of Hedgesville and Dewey Samuel Largent Jr. of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; 14 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Gene Edward Mason; a granddaughter, Angel Michelle May; and two sisters, Helen Elizabeth Largent and Anna Rachel Largent.

Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Cedar Grove Christian Church. The Revs. Leroy K. "Skip" Hurley Jr. and John E. Wright will officiate. Burial will be in Tomahawk cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. Visitation also will be Monday one hour before the services at the church.

Louise Marie Smith

AUGUSTA, W.Va. - Louise Marie Smith, 66, of Augusta, died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.

Born Jan. 1, 1933, in Greenville, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Zella S. and Willie Bishop Smith.

Her husband, Charles Frisby, preceded her in death.

She retired from Franklin Square Hospital in Essex, Md.

She was a member of Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church in Romney, W.Va.

She is survived by two daughters, Gail Fleming and Madonna Samuels, both of Baltimore; four sons, Luweldon Smith of Hagerstown, Victor Smith of Cumberland, Md., Bruce T. Smith and Danny F. Frisby, both of Baltimore; one brother, Henry Smith of Philadelphia; 20 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Robert Smith; three sisters, and two brothers.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Baldwin Funeral Home, 115 E. Birch Lane, Romney. The Rev. David Simmons will officiate. Burial will be in Ebenezer cemetery in Romney.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
